Good photos, but...,

This review is from: AC/DC Let There Be Rock - CD Edition (Book & CD) (Paperback)
Well, this is another unnoficial biography where, of course, the Young brothers (or any other band member) were not directly interviewed for it. The difference is that the writer at least knew the guys personally, as a journalist, along various years.
But, it's the work of a fan, sometimes in the worst sense of the word. The kind of AC/DC fan that says "FLY ON THE WALL" is a masterpiece (yes, this is written in the book). There is almost nothing, nothing new here. The firing of Mark Evans, the exit of Simon Wright, nothing. At least, the writer is honest enough to quote from magazines inside the text itself. While the Young brother don't release their autobiography (a doubtful event), the best books around regarding AC/DC, in mny opinion, are "AC/DC: Maximum Rock & Roll: The Ultimate Story of the World's Greatest Rock-and-Roll Band", by Murray Engleheart and Arnaud Durieux and, of course, "HIGHWAY TO HELL", by Clinton Walker. This one one here don't even come close.

And there was rock!,

The first review here is, in my opinion, incredibly unfair and just plain snobbish. This is an excellent biography of AC/DC, well written and fun to read. That's what AC/DC is all about; having fun with a devil-may-care attitude and love of life and it really shines under the veteran writing skills of Susan Masino. If you are a true AC/DC fan, not some puffed up music analyst who has forgotten how to enjoy music for the sheer pleasure of it, then this is the book for you. And it is a biography that doesn't get steeped in melodramatic whining about how the band lost their vision way back in the 1980s. As the recent success of the Black Ice album and tour proves, AC/DC still has it and I doubt if they will ever lose it.
