Absolutely Best at the Highest possible Volume on a Surround sound system.
AC/DC Deliver for the fans, and they deliver consistently.
I doubt very much that the DVD is Overdubbed, since the Sound is the Same as Every other AC/DC Release. But even if it is overdubbed, WHAT THE HELL...
This is a Great Show, and the Goods are delivered.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I know that this concert was filmed back in 1991, and to compare it to more recent recordings that were made for HD isn't a fair comparison, but i doubt that there is much a difference from the regular DVD and the blu ray version. The footage is very grainy and when you see the shots from a distance it looks like every other pixel on the screen is a white dot. The...

Angus Plays brilliantly, and works the crowd superbly. As for the alleged disparity between what you see and what you hear... Angus is 5"2, so his playing of the Gibson SG he uses is deceptive, it looks one way when physically he is producing the sound by what his body does and his left hand technique. Hard to explain, but what you see is not always what you hear.
The other thing that I thought any Movie viewer would know, is that In Making a Concert Film, a Second , third, or whatever, camera is used for "Inserts", and this is matched as best as can be done... which does not always work; this does not mean that the Track is overdubbed, merely that the Line editor, and the Final Edit did not match.

Anyway, this is Superb.

Get NO BULL: LIVE IN MADRID, and The DVD of AC/DC Live in Munich... Extremely Brilliant !!!!!!!!
This is a real Step up from the Original VHS Release.

5.0 out of 5 stars AC/DC's Early Nineties Castle Donington Concert Rocks!, November 11, 2003
By
highway_star (Hallandale, Florida United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: AC/DC - Live at Donington (DVD)
After watching this never before released (in The U.S.) AC/DC concert from Castle Donington, I was amazed at the sound quality of this dvd. But after watching it several times and watching Angus Young's fingers doing his fancy fretwork, I sadly realized that parts of this concert have been doctored. That's the reason for the excellent sound, alot of overdubs. On certain songs it's obvious Anguses guitar riffs have been tampered with and cleaned up. His fingers don't match what he's playing on a number of songs. Nonetheless, it all sounds great, but was it really necessary? Possibly the original concert tapes were of inferior quality and this was part of the reason for the "cleaning up" as so to speak. The concert itself is amazing with Angus running back and forth doing his famous goosewalk as he strums his Gibson SG Standard guitar. The energy level certainly never lets up and the entire band sounds great. Singer Brian Johnson's voice fits well with even the earlier AC/DC Bonn Scott material such as "Jailbreak", "Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be", "Highway To Hell", "The Jack", "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap", etc. Since this concert was filmed in 1991 AC/DC include a few of their songs from the new (at the time) "Razor's Edge" album such as "Thunderstruck", and "Fire Your Guns". There are the usual songs such as "Back In Black", "You Shook Me All Night Long", "Hells Bells", "Shoot To Thrill" all from their 1980 "Back In Black" album as well as a few from other albums such as "Heatseeker" and the anthem "For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)". The picture quality is also excellent on this dvd which by the way is two hours long. There's also a colorful booklet included with the dvd which includes AC/DC's 1991 "Razor's Edge" tour dates as well as information about the Castle Donington concert. I would recommend this dvd to all AC/DC fans as well as heavy metal rock lovers worldwide.

This review is from: AC/DC - Live at Donington (DVD)
AC/DC never fails to put on a spectacular performance and this DVD captures it well on film. Unfortunately, I've never had the honor to see them live for real, but I can only imagine how awesome that would be. They have a real stage presence that seems to be nonexistant in the music of today. "Family Jewels" is a good buy also, has the Bon Scott performances, AC/DC - Family Jewels.

Songs Included:

1. THUNDERSTRUCK
2. SHOOT TO THRILL
3. BACK IN BLACK
4. HELL AIN'T A BAD PLACE TO BE
5. HEATSEEKER
6. FIRE YOUR GUNS
7. JAILBREAK
8. THE JACK
9. DIRTY DEEDS DONE DIRT CHEAP
10. MONEYTALKS
11. HELLS BELLS
12. HIGH VOLTAGE
13. WHOLE LOTTA ROSIE (complete with blow up Rosie)
14. YOU SHOOK ME ALL NIGHT LONG
15. T.N.T.
16. LET THERE BE ROCK
17. HIGHWAY TO HELL
18. FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK (WE SALUTE YOU)

5.0 out of 5 stars DVD Has OverDubbing but its still great!, November 9, 2003
By
This review is from: AC/DC - Live at Donington (DVD)
The word going around on the AC/DC forum at Elektra when this first hit the market was that some of the tracks on this DVD had been over dubbed. Meaning that its not the original sound found on the VHS version! And no one knows why as of yet? But that dosent stop this show from beeing worth buying, only the hardcore AC/DC fan will notcie a few slight changes! Its nothing to worry about, the sound is absolutly fantastic!

AC/DC's greatest show is now on DVD. Which is great because I, like many others had the shoddy VHS version that Angus's guitar was not hearable, so I never even knew what the original solos sounded like, the only thing i could tell a diffrence on was TNT it seemed to have been more the "oi oi oi" of the LIVE SE albums chant on TNT ...but again, its nothing to worry about!

The extras are a few alternate camera angles! but there a bonus feature, there not one of those ones where you can press your remotes "camera angle" feature, there seprate all together! Theres not one for every song, or is there any two angles for the same song! Most of them are Angus and Brian, one or two for Cliff and Malcolm, and i'm not even sure if Chris Slade got one or not? There is a short Audio Commentry with Angus and Malcolm and they give you some info about some intresting things! And there is a discography of pretty much all the world released AC/DC albums, with Angus and Malcolm putting some Audio Commentry over the top of them if youd like some info about those albums!!!!

apart from the new dubbing. This DVD isgreat, and will be the video to make all you non AC/DC fans eyes pop open and hear a sound unlike no other! and the enormous crowd headbanging along to the worlds greatest Rock N Roll band thats sure to make you see this band in a whole new light if you know nothing of the worlds most electrifieing band. This DVD is no disapoinment, and features more footage then released on the VHS! for egsample, the VHS did not come with "High Voltage" and tho its seen as to why it was cut because of some malfunctions with Angus's guitar, its there now for you to enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Lord this DVD is amazing, October 7, 2005
This review is from: AC/DC - Live at Donington (DVD)
I am a dedicated AC/DC, and let me tell you, this by far AC/DC's best DVD concert. The song list is awesome, because you get some songs you dont usually hear, like High Voltage being sung by Brian Johnson, and a sweet little solo being followed by Jailbreak. The DVD is amazing quality, the song quality is awesome, especially on surround sound on a big screen or plasma screen tv, or you everday tv, it feels like you were in Donington rockin' right next to Angus. I also love the interviews with the band members, and the spotlight songs on Angus, Cliff, Brian, Malcolm and Chris. Do yourself the favor, if you haven't already, and by this AC/DC Concert DVD, this DVD is in my personal favorite collection.

Rock on, and Ride on.

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING, November 16, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: AC/DC - Live at Donington (DVD)
first off i love AC/DC. i may be young but ive been listening to them since i was 5. So being as it was i had to get my hands on this. I saved up the 10 $ nd bought it. i immediately started watching. from the powerful opening of THUNDERSTRUCK to the closing FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK (WE SALUTE YOU) i was glued to the tv. the camera operation nd execution is amazing capturing everything from the roaring crowd to beneath Angus Young's feet. Angus Young is possibly the greatest guitar player ever. Playing so fast nd with such precision i couldnt help but play air guitar along with him. Chris Slade doesnt skip a beat on drums supplying the heart beat of every song. Brian Johnsons vocals are wut pulls them apart from all the rest of the bands. i better wrap this up cuz i got homework to do. so uh yea just buy it u wont regret it. AC/DC ROCKS!!!!!!!

The sound is great(especially if you have a good theater system), but the video of this disk isn't up to what i'd expect for High Definition.

AC/DC is bar none one of the finest live acts I've ever seen, and "AC/DC Live At Donington" is proof of this. This is one of the most lively, energetic shows I've ever seen. The band is simply on fire. Each of the 18 performances look and sound great, and command your attention.

This new dvd also comes equipped with audio commentary from Angus and Malcolm Young. It is a dvd that belongs in your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blown Away, December 30, 2004

This review will be simple and straight to the point.

Call up some friends. Have them come over with beer and whiskey. Turn the stereo up to ten. Rock your flippin' brains out. This DVD performance is great.

I was blown away. For close to two hours, AC/DC tore the stage apart. There was no down time. There were no ballads. This was hard rock from opening to closing.

The audio is excellent The visuals are also excellent. This concert was well filmed and recorded.

"Live at Donington" sits proudly amongst my collection of live performance DVDs.

Rock fans will not be disappointed. Buy this performance.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a show! What a DVD!, December 2, 2004

Even if you aren't a hard rock fan, but love music, then you should get this DVD just because of its shear power and full on rocking. Some reviews have complained about the sound or the picture quality and yes if you put on good quality headphones some of the songs sound that good and spot on that you swear you are listening to the album track but this only enhances the visuals. As for the picture quality they are as good as any I have seen for a live concert, considering alot of it was shot at night time.
Basically this is 2 hours of non stop great music, helped by one of the best, most energetic and hardest playing guitarists in the world. Helped by a powerhouse drummer who looks as strong at the end of the show as he does at the beginning and a bass and second lead guitarist who basically stand still for the whole 2 hours (as they always have) and just add fuel to the fire. But most of all a tight band who just play incredible simple riffs that just keep coming and coming. My favourites would be the 17 minute version of "Let There Be ROCK" and the opener "Thunderstruck".
I'm not a big AC/DC fan but this would be one of my favourite music DVDs! Turn it up!!
