5.0 out of 5 stars Restoring my faith!
I was somewhat disappointed with the last live video from the boys (No Bull) but was blown away by this one. The digital sound is fantastic and the band is really tight. They sound great. Even You Shook Me All Night Long sounded good (I've never been impressed with that song live).

I will agree with a previous reviwer that the bonus footage could have been better...

3.0 out of 5 stars Welcomed addition to my Collection
I received this video as a gift not too long ago (by request), and I enjoy watching it very much. Though the band has aged (set in 2000), I find it's the crowd going insane that helps light up the stage. If you're a true fan of AC/DC you'll love them and appreciate the music without overly comparing it to earlier hits of the 90's, as they are frankly not comparable...

This review is from: AC/DC: Stiff Upper Lip Live (DVD)
I was somewhat disappointed with the last live video from the boys (No Bull) but was blown away by this one. The digital sound is fantastic and the band is really tight. They sound great. Even You Shook Me All Night Long sounded good (I've never been impressed with that song live).

I will agree with a previous reviwer that the bonus footage could have been better. What's there is good, but it's only 10 minutes long. I also like the song selection. Sure all the usual suspects are included but I love that they played What Do You Do For Money Honey and especially Up To My Neck In You. Thanks for keeping us on our toes guys.

What the band really needs now is a DVD or 2 DVD set that contains footage and interviews from their entire career. There's got to be a TON of stuff out there that we rabid AC/DC fans would love to see. Oh well, maybe sometime down the road. For now, this one rocks. If you're a fan of the band I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top notch audio and video. Editing sucks!, August 23, 2002
This review is from: AC/DC: Stiff Upper Lip Live (DVD)
I borrowed this DVD from a co-worker. The audio and
video quality of this concert footage are awesome.
However, few minutes into it and I realized that the
editing sucked big time. Each clip is barely a few
seconds long and before you grasp the scene, you are
whisked away to another. This is a very good case of
too many cameras and a trigger happy editor who was
probably playing drums on the video editing button.
If you are able to tolerate this Internet Age,
millisecond attention span, you will love this DVD.

After all these years, AC/DC still ROCKS!

4.0 out of 5 stars AC/DC still can rock!, September 28, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: AC/DC: Stiff Upper Lip Live (DVD)
This DVD brings the energy of an AC/DC concert to your living room! The concert itself takes place somewhere in Germany, at a very big, packed to the brim, outdoor stadium. The stage setup is a huge, elaborate setup complete with a runway that goes out to the middle of the crowd. The concert itself begins in the evening while it is still light out, and goes on into the darkness. It is true that Brian Johnson's voice doesn't match the power that are on the studio recordings, but the concert is live, and this isn't unusual for many recording artists live performances. Also, Angus' guitar playing, at some points, isn't as sharp as what you would hear on an album. But I wouldn't have it any other way. It all adds to the "rawness" of the concert. You know there are no editing tricks here in an attempt to clean up the performance. The music is just straight-out and raw, no sickeningly over-produced sounds here.
Speaking of the sounds, Angus and Malcolm have always played their guitars clean through their Marshalls, with no effects pedals or racks. This DVD provides superbly the sounds that those guitars are bombarding the audience mercilessly with. The drums sound great, with crystal-clear cymbals and a bass drum that you can feel in your chest with the right sound setup and enough volume. The only complaint here is that the bass guitar is barely audible, despite the assumption that live, it was probably louder than hades. Also, somewhere on the stage there must've been a sweet spot, because you can sometimes hear Angus'guitar scratchingly feedback through Brian Johnson's mic. When I first noticed this happening (which isn't very noticeable at all), I was pleasantly surprised, because if thats what was happening live, I certainly don't want it edited out. I want authenticity of the real thing, and, despite the bass guitar, this DVD certainly delivers.
What I didn't like, however, is the fact that every single scene changes every second. Literally. You barely get a chance to take in what your looking at, and the scene changes to a different shot. You know how people are taught to count "one one-thousand, two one-thousand, etc". Well, every scene throughout the DVD changes before I could finish a "one one-thousand" count. Every scene. Non-stop. Every song. Many shots are very short, as short as a couple eye winks. Most people don't even notice this, or mind it, but I would've liked to see many of the shots to last longer. Example: forget seeing any of the cannons actually going off during For Those About To Rock, because the camera shots change too fast.
Despite the low presence of the bass guitar and nonstop changing of the camera shots, this DVD is the most-watched of all my DVDs. Why? Because these boys put on one hell of a concert.

5.0 out of 5 stars Huge concert, huge band, December 13, 2001

I just bought this great DVD last weekend and it has been the most exciting concert that I ever seen, the band is excellent, the crowd is really good, the songs selection was one of the best I've seen (actually I would like to hear 2 or 3 songs of the great last album), the guitar cordination it's amazing and the powerful of Brian is very very good.

The climax with the development of the concert is growing with each minute one of the greatest moments is when the band plays The Jack, you have to see it.

Good for the band and I hope to see them on the road early.

5.0 out of 5 stars You must see it!, December 1, 2001
This review is from: AC/DC: Stiff Upper Lip Live (DVD)
This is the complete show that took place in the Olympic Stadium in Munich, Germany from June 14th 2001. I was very appreciated that they chose this concert for the Live-DVD, because I've been there in the crowd.

The sound is in DD 2.0 Stereo, DD 5.1 and DTS. The complete show is subtitled with song lyrics and dialogues.

I am inspired of these DVD, not only, because I saw this concert live. If I watch this DVD, I feel again carried back to this concert. One gets a good impression of this spectacle, which was filmed supposedly with 21 cameras (21 guns?). It occurs not very often that a complete Show will be banned on video. Usually individual Tracks from different Shows are cut together.

The spectacle was topped by an additional encore after "For Those About To Rock" at a time when numerous fans already wanted to head home. "Shot Down In Flames" suddenly roared from the PA and rewarded the relentless "encore calls" of the audience. The last time this happened was in Glasgow in 1982 when AC/DC entered the stage once more with "T.N.T." after the last cannon had been fired. By the way, before that, "Live Wire" was played!!!(...)

If you're a true fan of AC/DC you'll love them and appreciate the music without overly comparing it to earlier hits of the 90's, as they are frankly not comparable. Their music lineup is different and refreshing, the video picture is great, and as stated by several reviews, the sound is not terrific. Might as well play it in Stereo.

As a fan, watching them is always great, while angus runs off on Solos playing with the crowd, his brother Malcolm hammers out the power chords. You can tell Johnson's vocals are starting to strain, and don't come out as strong as other concerts.

Live at Donington still stands out as the better concert to currently watch, while this remains to me, a refreshing change.

5.0 out of 5 stars 10-star DVD, January 23, 2003

This is absolutely the coolest, best sounding, best edited concert DVD I have had the pleasure of watching. I can summarize it just by saying that I had one huge grin on my face as I watched the entire concert. These forty-year olds can ROCK better than any band out there--they go literally non stop for over 2 hours!!!

Yes I will admit that Johnson best singing days are behind him, but his enthusiasm, energy & sincerity more than make up for it. Angus is God and this DVD will make you a believer (if you aren't already). The band is as tight as ever.

AC/DC (as you will see in the extra footage) is ALL about the show and just rocking their ... off. And the thing that stands out the very most is that they are haven't a GREAT time performing. The crowd can feel this and rewards the band by going nuts the entire concert. You can actually see as the concert goes on the energy levels going up by both the band and crowd--each feeding off one another. It's so awesome. If you like rock, even if you are so-so on AC/DC, do yourself one BIG favor and get this DVD. It will be a cornerstone of your collection. I think I'm going to get happy :) and watch this concert....again!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Consistently Great, Consistently AC-DC, November 7, 2004
This review is from: AC/DC: Stiff Upper Lip Live (DVD)
I was lucky enough to hear/see the band on the STIFF UPPER lip tour in Melbourne , Australia; Needless to say the venue was garbage compared to this concert in Munich. Anyways, the same vibe they had in the relatively small Melbourne Venue is here in the larger Munich site.
As is evidenced by the stage layout, and the marching "Angus" Statue in the prologue, The Schoolboy is the centre of attention.
A mix of the then current album and the standards is great.
The Camera coverage is way better than previous video releases ... one can only hope that they do as QUEEN has done, and released discs with extra coverage. Anyways, the band delivers in this release, and is truly a band for the fans, and even for those not mainly fans ... especially those who try and show off and not deliver what the fans want.
AC/DC are the raw, top of the line concert animals who deliver on CD, Video/DVD, as well as in person ... many artists could do well to copy this.

5.0 out of 5 stars BORN WITH A STIFF .........................................., April 17, 2005
This review is from: AC/DC: Stiff Upper Lip Live (DVD)
STIFF UPPER LIP(live)
This is a great dvd AC/DC at there best. The band kicks @$$ through out the show.sure there a bit older but when you see angus run around he dosent seam a day over 15.Though people complain i acctually like Brian Johnsons' voice it sounds pretty good on this dvd.The set is good though it was a little heavy on BACK IN BLACK.
but i cant complain the stage is cool the giant angus statue that would grow horns and blow smoke is awsome, the giant "A" devil hats are cool and ofcourse Rosie during WHOLE LOTTA ROSIE.
The concerts starts of with STIIF UPPER LIP there single from the album.I was surprised they did SHOOK ME ALL NIGHT LONG so early in the show fallowed by THUNDERSTRUCK and HELL AINT A BAD PLACE TO BE where you see the angus statute show its head then fallowed by HARD AS A ROCK then you get a triple shot of the back in black album SHOOT TO THRILL,ROCK & ROLL AINT NOICE POLLUTION,and WHAT DO YOU FOR MONEY.Then you get a shot from an extended version of BAD BOY BOOGIE and then HELLS BELLS with of course the giant bell
fallowed by UP TO MY NECK IN YOU after that you get the classic sing along THE JACK fallowed by BACK IN BLACK allong with DIRTY DEEDS.Then HIGHWAY TO HELL with flames and statue grows devil horns the cover comes from this performance.then of course concert staples WHOLE LOTTA ROSIE and LET THERE BE ROCK.
then AC/DC is done but then they come back with 3 encoars TNT,FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK cannons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!fire.then they pull another classic track SHOT DOWN IN FLAMES this dvd is awsome a little pricey but its awsome the only thing i wish is if they would have added more extras.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing energy! These guys are possessed by the music!, June 10, 2003

This review is from: AC/DC: Stiff Upper Lip Live (DVD)
I can't believe AC/DC can play this hard & fast & energetic! Angus & Brian move more than these new "rock" bands. Phil,Malcolm, & Cliff pound and are in constant-motion.I recommend this to kids(to see a real ROCK 'N' ROLL BAND as the REAL-ONES are becoming extinct!) and older fans to let them know the lads are alive a kickin' hard. Some surprise songs:"Problem Child";"Honey What Do You Do For Money" & "Up To My Neck In You" from the underrated "POWERAGE" album. This is a lesson that Rock N Roll will never die a long as these "down-to-earth" lads are around!
