I bought this fan to cool a cabinet that has a desktop PC in it. It was being installed in high-end custom cabinetry, so appearance mattered. When I opened the fan, I was immediately impressed that it contained everything I needed. It didn't just include the fan, screws and power supply, but it had a handy template to cut the correct opening. I looked at a lot of fans, and most didn't even include screws or a power supply, and they tended to look cheap. This fan sits in a square hole in the side of my cabinet, and with its thickness, it sits nicely in a standard 3/4" cabinet panel. It has a really nice-looking grill that overlaps the opening slightly, so it looks great on the outside of the cabinet. With it sitting in a square hole, though, it looks great from the inside of the cabinet as well. Add to that the fact that it does a great job of keeping the cabinet cool despite a fairly hot-running workstation inside, and you have an awesome product. All in all, this was the perfect fan for what I was trying to accomplish. The only recommendation I have would be to make the template adhesive, so it would stay in place by itself while you marked your opening. That's not even really a complaint, just the only thing I could come up with that would improve this excellent product.

Had an entertainment cabinet that had to have the doors open when things were on because it got too hot. Installed this fan in about ten minutes, problem solved and no annoying fan hum or hiss.
These units have usb-type power connectors that daisy-chain, so if you need to add fans, you can just chain more together and connect them with standard usb cables.
Very good design.

Exactly as advertised, the fan is very quiet. Not silent, but quiet.
To reverse into an intake fan, just unscrew and flip the fan over from the base.

EDIT: Below is my original review. My fan had an annoying pitched hum to it. I thought possibly an electrical hum. I had originally given it 3 stars because I could not get past the sound while watching TV. I thought about it. No matter how good a fan, balance is the key. When I installed, I used a driver bit one step smaller than suggested. The hole cut for the fan was perfect. It fit well and not too snug on any corner. I then inserted the screws, they went in rough, the hole was tight. I had one corner where my screw hole was off center. I muscled it in and tightened all the nuts. This was the mistake- this was the cause of the noise and audible hum. I removed the fan, used the size bit they suggested to open up the existing holes and the screws inserted nicely. I only hand tightened the nuts. I turned the fan on and immediately noticed a difference. After a few days, what noise there was was gone- it self balanced because it had the freedom to do so.

**I now give this product 5 stars. It has good build quality, is sharp looking with the black brushed aluminum finish, the honeycomb fan screen is a nice and good looking touch. My wife was very hesitant to allow me to cut a hole in our beautiful Entertainment Center. She even thinks it looks good :) .I do still caution people to check the direction of the fan when installing. Mine was reversed for my needs. Simply use a lighter and see which side draws the flame in to determine the direction.

I purchased this Fan and Assembly for my Entertainment Center. I was completely impressed with the quality and the finish of the fan cover.

I wasn't sure if only one was enough to cool my entertainment cabinet, but with proper placement it's doing a fantastic job. The temps used to be around 130f to 140f, but now hover at just over ambient. I placed it next to the most heat generating device in the cabinet, which was also at the top left. I set it to exhaust, and plugged it into the USB port on the amplifier it was cooling. If anything is energized in my cabinet, the amplifier will be on with it, so that makes sure the fan is powered at all times it may be needed. The air it exhausts is made up through cracks and such in the doors and paneling, meaning I don't need an inlet air source for it to be efficient enough to work. Highly recommend this unit, though in fair warning, after mounting it uses the cabinet as a sound board and the volume increases notably. It's almost totally silent until it's mounted, then it's a very low background noise.

I purchased 1 of these and 2 of the smaller 80mm fans for my cabinet/TV stand. Not sure what other posters are talking about, but these fans are extremely quiet. So quiet that I had to do a double take to make sure the blades were spinning around when I first turned them on. I purchased these to cool down my stereo receiver that sits inside one of those TV stands with shelves and glass doors. The stand has small holes in the back to insert the cables that connect to the receiver and other appliances. This I don't think would be enough.

Lucky for me the back of the TV stand was made out of hard card board so it was relatively easy to cut the holes for the fans. I cut out a large hole for the heat sink on the back of the receiver . I placed the 2 80mm fans in front of that hole to Push air into the back of the receiver. I then cut a smaller hole close to the top of the shelf for the 120mm fan to Pull the hot air out of the cabinet. The whole thing took less than hour to complete. The only thing I need now is one of those remote control AC plugs so I don't have to get up and turn the fans on/off manually like I am doing now. I am very happy with this purchase since excess heat is the #1 cause of electronic equipment failure.
