This review is from: Canvas 7.0 (CD-ROM)
I have used Canvas since version 1.0A on the Macintosh. These days I use version 7.0 with Windows 2000 on a Pentium III 750. I've had a love/hate relationship with Canvas for many years. It does the best job of any program I know of combining bitmap graphics and vector graphics. It's wonderful for putting text on top of paint objects and integrating bitmaps into complex CAD-like drawings. I love the way I can type in dimensions of objects direcly. Some of the new "sprite effects" features in version 7 are very impressive. However, I'm always running into bugs and minor flaws. I would give Canvas 5 stars, except that it's always frustrating me with little problems, some of which have taken years to be fixed, or still aren't fixed. On the whole, given the price and features, I recommend Canvas in spite of the bugs. I've used PhotoShop, Illustrator, Quark, PhotoDraw, and dozens of other graphics programs, but I always come back to Canvas.
