I had the dreaded and common "passlock" ignition problem with my 2003 Saturn Ion 3. After a lot of frustration, my research led me to the fact that I could self-service the vehicle by replacing this switch, which would most likely solve my problem. I'm no mechanic, but I followed the simple instructions I found on the internet and very easily replaced this. It's been about a month and I haven't had any problems with my car... it starts up every time.

My wife's Saturn had the dreaded Passlock problem. In cold weather, a faulty ignition switch would confuse the car's anti-theft system, causing a 10-minute lockout. This replacement switch cured the problem immediately and permanently. It's easy to install and it works like a charm.

i live in NJ and it gets down to 15 degrees during the winter i have been having problems with the factory ignition switch for the last 2 days since it was 18 degrees out so i read around online and found out this was my problem i called a malouf dealership and they told me it would cost me 200 dollars to fix it so i came on here ordered it last night got it today set up was pretty simple the only scary part about it is that when u take out the old switch the ignition locks your key in the ACC position and u can't get it out til the car starts but other than that pretty simple to do this saves me so much time in the morning having to come out on days lower than 32 degrees and having to "start" it 10 minutes early so i can have it shut down and wait 10 minutes to actually start it...i would recommend it to anyone who needs a new ignition starter switch and doesn't have the money to dump on a mechanic doing it

I was told that it would cost between $300 and $500 to have this part replaced so that my car would start again dependably without my anti-theft mechanism "thinking" that I was trying to steal my own car and, at random times, preventing me from starting it. With some free Internet instructions I was able to replace the part myself! Now everything seems fine and I saved hundreds of dollars!
