Most of what Moreira says in this book is common sense, but much "common sense," is often in short supply, especially when it comes to job hunting. Like many, I was wedded to a very traditional resume format (mission statement, education, positions, etc.) that did little to highlight my skills. Moreira's advice helped me in two major areas: First I put my qualifications and skills up near the top where they will get noticed. Second, I more about the "beneficial results" of my actions in previous employment rather than just yammering on about projects. I strongly believe this will get me more attention as I continue my job search.

A couple of words of caution, though. Moreira seems to be willing to play fast-and-loose with job titles in a resume ... something that can come back to bite you. A "copy writer" is not the same as an "information architect" and so on. Second, Moreira says that putting your work experience in chronological order is not important. As someone who has sat on hiring committees, I beg to differ. I want to see easily what someone was doing and when.

However, most of the book's advice is sound. It's a quick read, and can make a big difference. The biggest ommission: Where's the website with downloadable resume templates?

Ace the IT Resume does exactly what it sets out to do, provide knowledge and examples towards building a great IT resume. I got this book when I was getting no response to the numerous resumes I had submitted. After reading this book, and applying its lessons, I got hired into a great job with a great company. I also know what book I am picking up from my shelf if and when it comes time to dust off my resume again.

This is an excellent book for anyone in the IT industry. It is well written and to the point. Gives very practical advise and the example resumes are very helpful. I was anxious about re-writting my resume but after reading this book I am confident I can do a good job and know where to start and how to do it. Very cool!

Creating a resume for the IT industry is different from other industries. This book starts with that premise and provides good solid information. Worth the price.

I have not read the entire book but so far it has enlightened me on what I need to do. I am a recent graduate and do not have that much professional experience. This book informed me on what I can place in my resume with other work I have done on computers. I highly recommend the is book for the recent IT grad. It will also help those who have been in the field for awhile also.

Great for those needing guidance on how to write a good IT resume. I recommend it.
