First off it's not aesthetically pleasing. Both pieces are seemingly bulky and look like they're technology from the 90's. Also (and this is a minor complaint) but the short cables that come with it are grey and not the slightly off-white color that the adapters are. I know they seem like petty complaints, but Mac Users will probably not appreciate the lack of continuity in colors.

But as far as performance:

I'm testing in a three-bedroom apartment. In the den area I've plugged in the smaller of the two units (the box says either/or) and took the other unit around to different outlets in the apartment. The rooms below are listed from closest to the router (room 1) to furthest on the opposite side of the house (room 3). All of these rooms are on the same level.

So here was the raw speed comparisons:
(Baseline tests) Laptop using wireless connection next to the router: 10.67 mbps
Laptop using wired connection plugged into router: 22.54 mbps

Laptop using Powerline Ethernet Adapter in room 1: 12.74 mbps
Laptop using wireless connection in room 1: 9.69 mbps

Laptop using Powerline Ethernet Adapter in room 2: 9.21mbps
Laptop using wireless connection in room 2: 8.78 mbps

Laptop using Powerline Ethernet Adapter in room 3: 2.72 mbps
Laptop using wireless connection in room 3: 9.82

I should mention that there are two rooms in my house that I cannot use this device at all. I'm sure it's because of the way my apartment is wired, but it's completely useless in two bedrooms. No signal at all, and they are physically closer than rooms 2 and 3 above.

So the results, while measurably better in 2 out of 3 rooms, degrades significantly when separated by significant distance.

We have used and tested products similar to this and brought one along for a work site, just in case. We were happy we did. There was no wifi and no network access to be found in the temporary office in another country. The walls would not let the wifi through. Luckily we found that the entire place was on the same electrical and we tried this out. Success!

We plugged in one next to the router (into the plug as the directions and may other reviewers say) and one next to an access point. Using the ethernet over power we basically made an access point available for the few of us to use. It was excellent.the signal strength seems great and tests showed we were getting the same ISP speed as those in the other side connected to the router directly.

It took a second for the light to go green letting us know it was in sync, so we were worried. But we found that the same test again later gave the same result. It just took a few moment for it to find the other one on the electrical system.

I never noticed overheating or warmth from the device. It just worked. See the video for more

I was concerned about how well this product would work. The router is located in an addition to the house while the client computers are in the original part of the house. The two parts of the house have separate electric circuit boards. Would the bifurcated electrical circuitry allow the devices to communicate? My fears turned out to be unfounded.

Installation was a snap. I plugged in the single-port unit near the router and connected it to the router with an Ethernet cable. Then I plugged in the four-port unit near the two client computers and hooked them up with Ethernet cables. (Note that the units must plug directly into a wall socket and may not be plugged into any kind of electric extension device.)

Then everything just worked. No configuration. No worries. No wireless network interruptions. The connection is also much faster than the wireless connection. Networking complaints among family members have disappeared. More than a month after installation we haven't had a single problem.

Please note that this product does not support gigabit Ethernet, so you won't see gigabit speeds. But it beats our wireless network hands down when it comes to speed and reliability, and the price is not bad for what you get. I heartily recommend this product.

I used this to replace an older 80Mbps powerline adaptors. No problem, took out the old and put in the new with no problem. Using this to support my HD TV, HP server, Sony BluRay player, and a boxee. Everything loved it and noticed no adverse problems. Did notice that playing from my PC through my TV got smoother due to the higher rate. I had a four-port connector in the old one so this was a 1:1 replacement.

Two things I really liked, the connectors themselves are smaller than the first generation ones I had! Second, they latch up much quicker from power off to power on . . . took up to 30 secs. for my original ones to find the connection, these find it in just a few seconds.

Note that I have a 200Mbps group of powerline connectors running over the same wires and there seems to be no interference.

All in all, a great product.

These adapters just weren't reliable for me. The connection kept dropping. I kept thinking there must be something wrong with my outlets. The adapters didn't fit snugly, and soon began hanging away from the outlets, and I thought that must be causing the connection trouble, but even when both adapters were freshly shoved into place, and still in place, I couldn't count on the connection being there. I could find no pattern or cause for the connection's presence or absence.

Amazon sent a replacement set, which was no better, so I returned the second set as well, for a refund.

I bought a comparable TP-LINK item, and it has worked flawlessly.
