Perhaps the funniest adventure ever made,
This review is from: Zork: The Grand Inquisitior (CD-ROM)
Activision should make another chapter in the Zork series. This one was a great hit for all ages. The voices from the original Lenny and Squiggy accompany you as you explore the Great Underground Empire. It will play with any Windows XP computer. It is impossible to play multi-player anymore.

A lot of Zork fans have gone through hoops to get this beloved game to run in Windows XP. The simplest fix for me was to re-assign the first CD-ROM Drive letter to D. It doesn't affect other programs on the PC, and solves the "Please insert CD1" error, if you experience it. If you have trouble, don't give up! Have a geek friend help you. It's not really hard for an experienced PC user and the game is worth the effort.
Instructions for the CD-ROM version of the game. Here are the steps: Install the game as you normally would (do not install DirectX drivers!) then.. From the Start menu, go to "Control Panel", Open the "Administrative Tools" app. Now click on "Computer Management" and in the left window, go down to and highlight (left click) Storage/Disk Management. In the right window, find your first listed CD-ROM drive (the drive you need to use for running Zork). Right click on this button and from the pop up menu, choose "Change drive and letter paths".. if it's already D, you need do nothing. If not, change it to D and click OK (you may need to restart your computer). You may also need to Right click on the installed game desktop icon (properties/compatibility) and change the compatibility mode for Windows 95. Some users report having to do this, I did not need it. Print and save these instructions to revert to the original drive letter assignments when you've played and finished the game!! There are many fan sites with instructions to install and run the complete game from the hard drive. Just do an Internet search for Zork Grand Inquisitor. Don't expect help from Activision®, they no longer support the series. Finally, you may want to get a Walktrhru or FAQ to help with some of the puzzles. Enjoy!!

The Zork series of games is amazing. If you like adventure games and haven't yet played this, you're missing out.
I played this game with my brother several years ago and we still share some inside jokes about it ... it's a very memorable game!

You will move around in this game and find out very fast that it's full of jokes and laughs. The quests are just hard enough. But even the best will need a walk though on some puzzles. Like the phone in hell you have to dail a number that I could not find outside a walkthrough.
