Product Description

The A7, ADAM's best-selling and award-winning powered monitor, combines a high-frequency, transient-friendly A.R.T. ribbon tweeter with an innovative, state-of-the-art 6.5" woofer. The result in an extremely accurate monitor with all the clarity, detail and spectacular imaging traditionally associated with the ADAM name - but at a price that makes it accessible to nearly all home and project studios.

If you're looking for studio monitors with about $1000~1200 budget, you may as well stop looking because these are as good as you will get. Period.

I've tested my mixes through over a dozen different monitors in this price range, all the way up to the $1700 price range and quite simply, these little brutes offer the cleanest, most neutral, natural sound of any I tried.

The Dynaudio BM 5A and Tannoy Reveal 5A's I believe are the A7's closet competitors and neither of those had the high end clarity and natural-ness that the Adam ribbon tweeter's produce. Vocals and acoustic guitar and classical instruments that primarily live in the upper mids and high end register sound noticably better through the A7's. It's hard to explain but the recordings don't SOUND like recordings... they sound like the performers are right there in front of you... like that acoustic guitar is being played right in the room with you..

That kind of high end accuracy is why adam speakers are so sought after and why they're constantly chosen in favor of the more expensive competitors.

The only real drawback to the A7's is that, though the 6.5" woofer produces more clean low end than any other monitors with 5" woofers, the low end needs a subwoofer's help to really let you fine tune those lower (sub 35hz frequency) low ends. That being said, I actually use my sub quite sparingly so it's by no means a necessity for these to work well.

Anyways, I highly recommend these if you want utmost clarity when listening to your mixes or music.

These monitors sound amazing, and more importantly, they will tell you the truth.
I was excited to get these, and imagine my suprise when one of the monitors was dead on arrival. Just dead, wouldn't power up. The replacement had a problem with the tweeter, it was not properly aligned with the protective grill, about 1/8" too high. The one that replaced that has scratches on the top of the cabnet where the tweeter is mounted, and on the grill itself. I emailed Adam a week and a half ago, but still have received no response.

When I pay $500.00 for a monitor, I expect it to be properly assembled, and in good working order. I also expect the new monitor to be free from flaws. When I email the manufacturer about questionable quality control issues, I expect a response within a few days, or at least within a week. Hopefully the fourth monitor will be manufactured properly, and with care.

While these really are steller and accurate monitors (they really do sound fantastic), it seems that high quality manufacturing standards and customer satisfaction are not a priority at Adam.

The monitors that I had prior to the Adams were significantly less expensive, were made in China, and arrived in perfect working order without any flaws.

If you have the patience and time to exchange a few monitors before you get a pair that are properly made, then these might be for you. As for me, I don't think that I will be going up the ladder to Adam's more expensive monitors when I'm ready to upgrade. If I can't trust you with $500, why would I trust you with thousands?

Very Pleased January 9, 2010
A few years back I purchased a pair of Behringer Truth 8" studio monitors. That was a big change from my cheap old JBL bookshelf speakers. I knew the Truth was not the best, but for the price they did the job and I figured what the heck I can use them in the garage later when I get some "real" monitors.
Now the time has come to upgrade, and I always wanted a pair of Mackie HR824 - until - I heard them side by side with the ADAM A7. What a difference! Very open sound from the ADAM A7. For my needs I know I can mix with confidence on the A7s. I don't listen to bass heavy hip hop stuff so the lack of sub is not a bother, plus I won't disturb my neighbors.
Features I like are front firing ports and volume/power switches right on the front. The dimensions are small enough to fit on a desk, but I use speaker stands. Speaker stands drastically improved performance of any speaker.
I am happy, and hard to please. My son is also happy because he gets my old Behringer speakers for his apartment!
