Picked this drive up in February 2013, Installed the latest (at the time) windows 8 pro. Was using it in my everyday laptop for school/work. It was a really, really fast hard drive which would accomplish a full windows 8 boot combined with my intel i5 third gen and 8gb ddr3 in less than 10 seconds. I have nothing bad to say about the drive itself, it was very useful in doing photo and video editing along with allowing me to steam through everyday activities at breakneck speed. I am however sad to say that it only lasted until the second week in October 2013. A total lifespan of 7 months. If asked in July how I would rate this item, I would have easily given it 5 stars, but a dead drive is a dead drive and I should hope that a 200$ hard drive lasts me longer than pickled eggs would. I have contacted Adata with my information and I will update this review if anything gets done to help me in the meantime. I was very satisfied with the drive up until it died. I had purchased it thinking it might outlast some of the HDD's I have had in the past but unfortunately most of them are still running while this one sits dead with probably 20gb's of un-backed up data on it. I generally back up to an external, and back up my external to another off-site external once a month, guess I need to change my schedule.

Update: February 2014

Sent the drive to ADATA and they were very kind and helpful with replacing the unit as it was still covered under warranty. I must say they have very good customer service and always respond within 24/48hours on business days. However the return shipping which they were responsible for led to a lost shipment through USPS. Im still trying to resolve this with the company and I will update any progress. They have been less helpful from the point the shipment became lost but I am still trying to resolve it with them and I will certainly update this again if I get an SSD back from them like the one I sent.

I got 2 of these Adata xpg sx900 256gb in raid 0 for my gaming rig! It is just awesome! Best drives ever!!! Can't go wrong with the price and the quality! From "starting windows" to desktop in 6 seconds!! (in raid obviously... single drive takes about 10 to 13 seconds more or less, still pretty fast!) I will upload a couple of photos with benchmarks! There's not much else to say, they are drives, they are great quality, at least 4 to 5 years will pass before a failure. 3 year warranty so, overall 100%. FYI: I read a lot of reviews and saw a lot of videos before buying them because they are my first solid state drives. It just seems Adata went for all or nothing with this drives. (Btw sorry for my english is not my native language). I almost forgot! If you have a single drive of this and your motherboard has an intel chipset, remember to put the AHCI mode so you get the best performance out of it!

HI ... on my Dell Optiplex 9020 SFF (i7-4770 3.4GHz) machine I have an ADATA XPG SX900 512 GB SATA III 6 GB/sec SandForce 2.5 Inch SSD (ASX900S3-512GM-C) installed as Drive C:. I cloned my original hard disk with Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit SP1 on to the SSD using Acronis TrueImage 2014.

My read/write times (especially my write times) as measured by the 2 benchmark test shown below are somewhat confusing!!!

CrystalDiskMark: 512K : Read 385MB/s : Write 168MB/s
ATTO Benchmark: 512K : Read 515MB/s : Write 412MB/s

CrystalDiskMark benchmark shows much lower write times than the Atto benchmark --- Hmmm???

Thanks ... Charles

Update 5/18/2014

Seems that when I cloned from Hard Disk to the SSD, the process did not set the SSD Partition Alignment properly : this seems to be a common problem cloning from a HD to a new SSD but is never a problem when doing a Clean Install onto an SSD.

I used these steps (see link below) to check and to fix the SSD Partition Alignment and now my CrystalDiskMark write results are greatly improved:

CrystalDiskMark: 512K : Read 394MB/s : Write 335MB/s
ATTO Benchmark: 512K : Read 530MB/s : Write 451MB/s

Check out the LINK below --- it is really educational!!!

This is a great drive. I replaced it on 2 of my 2 MacBook Pro laptops and they are running incredibly fast. Downloaded a hard drive speed test app and it was running at full Sata II spec. Yes, i know the drive is SATA 3 but my Mac has SATA II bus.

I put this in my 2011 MacBook Pro. Install was easy and it's super fast now. Only holding back one star because my battery life seems to suffer a bit. It tends to be a problem with many ssd's. Not enough of a problem to want be to go back to my old drive. Stock drive would get speeds from 50-80Mb/s. This Ssd gets 450-500mb/s. It's like a new machine.

Installed in an early-2011 MacBook Pro 15", replacing the stock 500gb 7200rpm drive. Installation was a breeze (with the right screwdrivers, Phillips 000 and T6).

Running 10.8.5, my cold boot time went from 2min45sec to 0min45sec. After resetting the SMC for the computer (quick keyboard combo at reboot), the cold boot time dropped from 0min45sec to 0min22sec.

Feels like I have a brand new computer.

Drive is incredibly fast even on a SATA II connection, it literally quartered the boot time of my Mac Pro. Very impressed.
