This was a great purchase! It cut through two rings with only a few turns of the screw. It's definitely not a diy project though...you need someone's help to cut the rings themselves when you stupidly keep on rings long after your knuckles swell up and you can't get the rings off no matter what and then you abrade the skin under the rings. Even if this was the only time I ever have to use this tool, it was worth every penny. My other alternative was to go to the ER to have the rings removed and THAT would have been a lot more expensive. A couple of jewelers I called, didn't want to do it and referred me to the ER in case they hurt me in the process or in case the finger required medical attention. I think they were more concerned about their possible liability whereas I was more concerned about my liberation. Anyway, this was a great product and got the job done quickly and easily. An excellent choice.
