A must read for parents considering Ritalin et al., August 18, 2000

This review is from: ADD & ADHD: Complementary Medicine Solutions (Paperback)
If you are willing to take the time to read this book from cover to cover, you will learn how many factors contribute to the symptoms of ADHD, depression, anxiety etc. for all people not just children. The details of the biochemistry and neurotransmitter activity as well as treatment protocols answered many questions for me that other MD's and PhD's could not answer. Most importantly - yes, there are blood tests that indicate where the problem(s) lie, and yes, there are natural treatments to give the body what it needs to repair itself. Our child read parts of the book with me and became very motivated to follow the protocol once he understood what was going on inside of him. He especially enjoyed following the diagrams of the chemical pathways and learning how a missing "ingredient" i.e. amino acid or fatty acid, causes the production to slow down which causes the body to show certain symptoms. We brought our child to be evaluated by Dr. Gant and were impressed with his intelligence, warmth and experience. Children suspected or diagnosed with ADHD and other related disorders deserve to have their care-givers read this book.

Practical, Common Sense Help, April 2, 2001

This review is from: ADD & ADHD: Complementary Medicine Solutions (Paperback)
Dr. Gant's book is worth reading if you are intersted in the truth about ADD/ADHD. He describes the biochemistry in a manner that lay persons can understand so that they are not left in mystery about this disorder. He then gives answers and solutions, which is refreashing.
This knowledge will help parents to better understand and question the advice of others. This book would be a best seller if it weren't so profitable to treat the symptoms of this disorder and view it as a "chronic", long term expense. Dr. Gant is to be commended for his love of children, his visionary approach to healing and his courage to think "outside the box" and find solutions and cures.
This book should be mandatory reading for all persons who are directly or indirectly involved with this disorder. Readers will find that the truth makes much more sense and is refreshing and empowering!
