Dr. Zentall provides some compelling research and practical strategies to help teachers and parents understand how to teach children with ADHD more effectively.

We found out about this book through our family coach, Kirk Martin, of Celebrate!ADHD. He uses a similar approach that has worked wonders with our son--by discovering a child's natural learning style and working WITH it, instead of against it. He has a free newsletter that provides helpful tips at the Celebrate!ADHD website.

Highly recommend Dr. Zentall's book along with Celebrate!ADHD and The Nurtured Heart Approach.

If you or someone you know has ADHD, then you really need to read this book. Dr. Zentall has devoted her career to researching children with ADHD. Her findings have helped us develop a greater understanding of the challenges and gifts of people on the high end of the ADHD continuum. She explains how their attention and behavior is prompted by biological needs and offers more adaptable ways of meeting those needs. All teachers really need to read this book.

This books is a compact synthesis of years of research on ADHD written by a renowned expert in the field. It has evidence-based strategies and explanations for why certain strategies work and others don't. The book is written at an academic level but could be easily read and understood by parents, teachers, and graduate students. I have read it cover to cover and I highly recommend it.
