The ADHD Fraud: How Psychiatry Makes "Patients" of Normal Children

Some believe that many children in this society suffer from disorders, that is, behavioral disorders. They believe our children have diseases, deficiencies, and to correct these deficiencies, they primarily prescribe synthetic cocaine or a mix of methamphetamines, and if not those, then a variety of other uppers and downers.

The advocates of these disorder theories are on constant patrol, looking for chances to insist that they have found real diseases. Interesting, if true, for as the authors of "The ADHD Fraud" meticulously illustrate, that would mean a verified pathology addressed by the medication. A verifiable pathology would be something like adding a hormone to compensate for a missing gland.

Odd, don't you think, that speed and coke should be considered in a class with insulin, something found in healthy children and not in those considered disordered?

However, if you don't see this as strange, if synthetic cocaine being equated to insulin seems logical to you, then you do not need the information in "The ADHD Fraud."

On the other hand, if you have trouble accepting that normal children are flooded with cocaine and meth, and that "disordered" children are deficient in these dopes, then you may have some reading to do.

Bluntly, "The ADHD Fraud" shines light into one of the darkest and foulest cesspools in this society. It is a book not just for parents but for everyone. While it is one of the many exposés of psychiatry's corruption, it is one of the best. It describes in great detail the lack of real science in psychiatry and society's mob mentality that allows the current practice.

The authors' focus is on the ADHD scam. They spend little time on the history of psychiatry, mentioning only a few parts of the continuous saga of psychiatry's evolution of one bizarre theory followed by another. However even a brief examination of that history shows that each mad approach has been hailed as wondrous by some in that generation of medical professionals, and the current fad of phony diagnosis of ADHD is no different. From as weird as professing that an excess of blood caused insanity on through physically undetectable "brain conditions," each psychiatrically proposed theory is accompanied by sham treatments: a very, very small sample includes simple beatings-which is still a favorite, ice-water coffins, cauterizing genitalia, sterilization, coring brains as if they were apples, concentration camps and gas chambers, insulin shock, the ever popular electric shock, ice picks through the eyes, insecticide-the last four, especially the last three, also still with us, and now we have some of the most addictive and dangerous drugs known to man shoved down the throats of children.

Each and every step taken by psychiatry is driven by the underlying philosophy that torture may not cure, but it surely shuts people up. How the torture is delivered depends on what society will accept. As each succeeding generation sickens with whatever is the current psychiatric abuse, the psychiatrists trot out a new treatment, always touted as the real answer, and always just another way to silence and restrain the people that they don't like. Terrifying people from difference or destroying their ability to be different is the core of psychiatry. Even the most deranged individual never receives help, just enough physical and mental pain so that they stop bothering the doctors.

To psychiatry, the answer is very simple. Quiet is the cure. Timid is the cure. Knowing who's the boss, that's the cure.

As is well covered in "The ADHD Fraud," to many in public education, this is exactly the cure that they have wanted.

When you examine psychiatry with that understanding, it makes sense. A horrific, nightmare version of sense, but horror, sadly, is the reality. The same profession employing the same class of sociopaths and antisocials as developed Hitler's final solution is busy today practicing and defending their latest final solution on our children.

The authors document how ADHD, ADD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and all the rest are excuses to put children into chemical straitjackets, to turn childhood into a disease, to turn children's normal behavior into symptoms, and to keep the psycho-drug industry wealthy. That children are robbed of their childhood, left with a drug haze instead of memories, left with an addiction instead of a future is not a problem to psychiatry. Once a child has been totally screwed up, totally hooked, the psycho-drug industry has a customer for life, however short that life may be.

This book will force you to consider: what will the children do, when school is over, if the parents manage to get them off drugs? The childhood that should have been spent in learning how to focus, how to drive to a goal and how to achieve has been spent in a drug-induced fixation, what we used to call "zoned." These children, and they are still children for they have not been allowed to freely mature, are confronted with life-and have fewer or no skills learned to face that life. Of course, the doctors are willing to step in to diagnose the child they have destroyed-and to make money feeding the continuing addiction.

Don't let that child be yours. As the book points out and further research would show, schools exist in this country where no child is drugged, where children graduate years ahead of their equals trapped in public schools. If it can be done anywhere, it can be done everywhere. There is no excuse.

Yet, in Congress today, winter of 2009-2010, are several bills designed to drive in business for psycho-drug industry, including one requiring psychiatric screening for every school child and one requiring that psychiatric screening be offered to every new mother. This is nothing new. The Federal government is as guilty as the psycho-drug industry for this current madness.

The goal of reviewers such as Gina Pera and the like is to prevent us from examining Baughman's work. They fear our ability to recognize truth. Only by keeping us from thinking for ourselves, from searching and finding truth, can the liars prosper. Pera in particular has the brass to imply that Baughman does not understand neurochemistry. This is, in fact, her own failing, not Baughman's, for he practices verifiable medicine. Typical of psychiatry's adherents, the harsh critics of "The ADHD Fraud" accuse others with the crimes they know best, the crimes psychiatry knows from looking in the mirror.

Another yapping critic insists that ADHD is one of the most researched "medical" conditions. With tens of billions made drugging children, the criminal drug companies can afford, and need to keep producing, a constant avalanche of lies. Only touched on in "The ADHD Fraud," this crush of fraudulent research is covered in depth in "Mad In America," a book I also recommend.

Finally, psycho-drug proponents attack Scientology. What is Scientology's crime? It is the same as that of the Quakers one hundred and fifty years ago. The Quakers then, as the Scientologists now, insist that brutality, maiming, poisoning, torture and other "treatments" have no place in society. Psychiatry attacks as this strikes at the core of mainstream psychiatric practice. Without the "right" to name your behavior as insane and the "right" to punish you or debilitate you into silence and stillness, the typical psychiatrist has nothing.

As covered elsewhere, such as in "Mad In America," Psychiatry denies this truth. Yet practice has shown time and again that decency and respect provide the best and most effective help for the troubled, this from the Quaker hospitals of the early 1800's to the Soteria project of a few years ago, and this truth is still evident in every country fortunate enough to be too poor to be ravaged by psychiatry.

Of course, even psychiatry is not a cloth of a single color. However unusual, it is possible to be a psychiatrist and not be criminal. But those decent psychiatrists have failed to organize, have failed to rally around the bravest of them, those courageous few who publicly decry the psycho-drug, psychosurgery madness. This failure to clean their profession has stained the vast majority of them with guilt and left that profession a haven for the foulest, darkest, most demented creatures, that criminal known as the typical psychiatrist.

All this said, don't take my word for it. Read "The ADHD Fraud." Read also "Mad in America." And from there read any of the many, many other exposés. So many exposés that even in this long note, there is not the room to give their names. But they are easy enough to find. Simply follow the links on Amazon. Then buy a few and follow the footnotes inside those volumes. Be prepared to fill your library to overflowing.

Compare what you find to your own experience and observations. Determine the truth for yourself. Take a chance on protecting your children. Take a chance on protecting all your loved ones.

Those trapped by psychiatry will also have experiences and observations: Sometimes the victim initially likes the drug buzz, but that wears thin. Eventually they join the rest, those who've been living lives of confused despair, at a loss as to why the psychiatric "help" hasn't helped, where whatever was the original problem has been compounded and multiplied by the drug's side effects. Those side effects, of course, are a great reason to feed the poor fools more drugs.

If they're going to get out, if they are going to get away from the drugs, it's somewhere around here, usually early than later. There will be internal damage from the poisons-heart, brain, nerve-you name it, and they'll suffer from a drug personality to some degree: not quite there, not quite responsible, some suffering less, some more. But at least they are out.

Anywhere along this line, from beginning to end, the drug's effects-and simple despair at no resolution of any real problem-can bring on a hopelessness to which suicide is the only answer, and children as young as three have killed themselves as a result of these drugs. Three years old! What does it take to put suicide in the mind of such a small child? Well, psychiatry, of course. Nothing else comes close. Or, if not suicide, then a drug-induced madness can erupt in which violence and death are demanded-just as it was at Columbine High School and most other mass murders of the last fifty years.

Finally, waiting at the finish for those who survive, if you can call it survival, are the empty lives, lives spit out at the end of psychiatric "care," lived in wasted bodies destroyed by poisons, lived in an addict's hazy reality-a life where the next dose is the key to a few more hours of numb existence, a life void of real happiness, satisfaction or accomplishment, where, at the funeral, the best we can say is, "At least that's over."

Dr. Baughman has written an excellent book. The information that he presents is very detailed and indicates that the ADHD issue is not confined to the U.S. It is a MUST READ for every parent who has been exposed to the harassment of a school system, or any other institution, "claiming" to have your child's best interest in mind. The footnotes and references offer a detailed insight to the unpublished/undistributed information concerning the long term effects of this rampantly overused and abused catch-all misdiagnosis of our children. The book illustrates the power that special interst groups can and do have on our society.

I agree with Dr. Baughman. His book highlights an enormous problem our modern society is facing: the uncontrolled drugging of the future generations. Here is what Science journal tells us: (from Science 26 January 2001: Vol. 291. no. 5504, p. 595, author Peter R. Breggin, Director of the International Center for the Study of Psychiatry and Psychology):

"First, stimulant drugs are dangerous. One prospective study indicated that the use of prescription stimulants in childhood predisposes children to abuse cocaine in young adulthood (2). Another study found that children diagnosed with ADHD had a 9% risk of developing psychotic symptoms when treated with stimulants (the control group had no such symptoms) (3). In my own reviews of controlled clinical trials, I found that stimulants can cause, for example, growth retardation, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (1). In addition, animal studies indicate that stimulants in short-term clinical doses permanently change the brain and even destroy neurons (4). In terms of developmental neurotoxicity, the potential effects of amphetamines on 4- to 6-year-old children should rule out performing clinical trials involving this age group, such as the Preschool ADHD Treatment Study discussed in Marshall's article.

Second, stimulants exert their "therapeutic" effect by suppressing autonomous and spontaneous behavior. They also enhance obsessive-compulsive behavior (1). This compulsive over-focusing is mistaken for improved attention. Meanwhile, there is no evidence that stimulants improve learning or academic performance, but rather that they tend to impair cognitive function.

Third, the collection of behaviors subsumed in the diagnosis ADHD, including squirming in a seat and talking out of turn, are not "symptoms" and do not reflect a syndrome. They are behaviors that disrupt classrooms and can be caused by anything from normal childhood energy to boring classrooms or overstressed parents and teachers. We should not suppress these behaviors with drugs; we should instead identify and meet the needs of our children in the school and the home. Children often improve in their behavior and school performance when parents and teachers find better approaches to disciplining them and to engaging their natural desire to get along with adults and to learn".

Several reviews compare this to Scientology or lacking science. I struggle with two boys who supposedly have ADHD. I also have a degree in Psychology. I have yet to find or have someone show me a refereed scientific, academic or medical journal article on research showing any "scientific" evidence for the existence of ADHD. It is no more scientific attributing distracting behavior to ADHD than it would be to attribute it to invisible pink unicorns or space alien abduction. In science there is the principle of Ochim's Razor. It basically states that one takes the more simple obvious underlying cause for a phenomena first. Applying that principle it is easy to find many simple reasons why a kid can be distracted, diet, illness, domestic problems at home, bullying in school, to many video games and TV, lack of exercise, etc. It is far easier for institutions like schools, etc. to make up an invisible pink unicorn "syndrome" and drug kids into submission than to actually do the work to look at what is really going on. It's darkly Orwellian!

For those reviews that claim this is the most researched disorder then cite the research. Below is a link to an article written by professional psychologists citing numerous "PEER REVIEWED" scientific research that challenges the "popular" perspective that ADHD is a chemical imbalance or genetic. I think it also demonstrates there is hardly a "scientific consensus" on ADHD.

Dr. Baughman presents his arguments, anecdotal illustrations, and painstaking research to bolster his case that the present and growing numbers of children diagnosed with ADHD arising from defective science, intellectual dishonesty, and drug company manipulation. The result is, quite literally, the poisoning of our children's brain chemistry. Any parent whose child has been diagnosed with ADHD needs a careful and complete reading of the iconoclastic information revealed within the pages of The ADHD Fraud.

Yes, there are too many false diagnoses of ADD, but that does not logically prove that there is no such thing as ADD. Misdiagnoses happen with EVERY medical condition.

After seeing the too-numerous-to-count examples of children who absolutely struggled in school (and socially) completely turn their lives around with medication, behavioral therapy, and life coaching, I would have thought this nonsense would have been put to rest by now. I guess there are conspiracy nuts in every field.

If there is no such thing as a child with ADD, then how does one explain the fact that when these children are giving medications that are STIMULANTS it actually SLOWS THEM DOWN? Give another child stimulants and they'll bounce off the ceiling.

Full disclosure: I have adult ADD and medication has made a world of difference. And I know it isn't psycho-somatic because it took trying several different medications and different dosages to find the one that worked for me.

Excellent book if pehaps over the top at points but very clearly makes a good argument against the current trend in over medicating our children with strong drugs including those removed from the market in Canada.

Dr. Fred Baughman is one of the few willing and qualified as a neurologist to expose the fraud of biomedical psychiatry. Despite the claims of other reviews, even the psychiatrists advocating their bogus biomedical psychiatry admit they have no medical or scientific evidence whatever for their fraud labels like ADHD, bipolar disorder (the latest fraud fad) and others. They claim such evidence exists, but any studies they cite are fraudulent (funded by BIG PHARMA and ghost written by drug company hacks) and/or have been exposed as having fatal flaws. Their own "bible," the DSM IV admits as has the Surgeon General that there is no medical evidence whatever behind their labels. No medical tests exist to prove these bogus stigmas either. Rather, these fraud labels are VOTED IN by a show of hands by the white, male old boy network in power for the most part based on politics, social control, etc. as Dr. Paula Caplan exposes in her great book, THEY SAY YOU'RE CRAZY.

Dr. Baughman has written excellent critques of why biomedical psychiatry is fraudulent with special emphasis on the ADHD fraud since it has destroyed so many children's lives while murdering many in the process. Dr. Baughman exposes the sad truth that psychiatry is in bed with BIG PHARMA and these labels are invented to push toxic drugs for mutual greed, profit, power and status. Dr. Baughman exposes the big lie of psychiatry's pretense that their bogus diagnoses equal those of real medicine as "real diseases" by discussing the disease he discovered based on scientific evidence and bona fide tests/lesions while psychiatry's diagnoses are based on lies, fraud, bogus studies funded by BIG PHARMA, and ill gotten power through the billions made by BIG PHARMA through psychiatry.

The fact that psychiatry has preyed on our most vulnerable citizens, children, toddlers and now babies in the womb no less as well as abused women, children and the elderly shows how evil this profession is and always has been when they invented the gas chambers ultimately used for the Holocaust to kill the so-called mentally ill as Hitler rose to power. Dr. Baughman amply shows why this evil profession of biomedical psychiatry professing lies as exposed in this excellent book should be abolished. Of course, anyone exposing the truth like Dr. Baughman, Dr. Peter Breggin and other brave heroes can expect to be discredited by BIG PHARMA and all the shills on their dole including drug front organizations like NAMI, CHADD, psychiatry, etc.

Anyone, insane enough to visit a psychiatrist today, is guaranteed to come out with a life destroying bogus label and prescription for toxic drugs guaranteed to not only destroy your life, but also shorten it as is well known.

Dr. Baughman also exposes the fraud of the new fad bipolar disorder label. Dr. Joseph Biederman, former famous Harvard psyciatrist pushed this diagnosis for children along with the deadly antipsychotics to treat it, has been exposed as over a million from this fraud in many recent media articles. Due to his influence, thousands of children have been subjected to this fraud label to push more toxic drugs on them while in the past children were not so labelled and drugged.

It is all too clear why biomedical psychiatry must be abolished and why BIG PHARMA must answer to experts who are not in bed with it.

I am also saddened that other reviewers have tried to discredit Dr. Baughman by claiming he has ties with Scientology. I may not agree with Scientology as a way of life, but at least Ron Hubbard admitted he invented it to make money while psychiatry pretends to help people by destroying their lives with fraud labels and lethal drugs and using their money and power to force their toxic treatments on the most vulnerable in our society through the legal system. CCHR run by members of Scientology has done an excellent job of serving as a watchdog of psychiatry and exposing its many evils and massive fraud, so I certainly applaud this aspect of their work as a Christian. Sadly, too many people are either ignorant or indifferent to the many evils perpetrated by psychiatry, so I am very grateful for the courageous efforts of CCHR (Citizens Commission On Human Rights) and their very accurate, informative information about psychiatry just as I am for heroes like Dr. Baughman though I am not familiar with his religious or other personal beliefs either. Obviously, this attack is meant to strike below the belt, showing the attacker not only feels threatened, but lacks any credible evidence to dispute the facts exposed by Dr. Baughman, CCHR and many others.

As if we didn't have enough silly self-inflicted social problems like stupid wars, economically disastrous government programs and so on. The world of psychiatry and especially the whole ADHD bs is doing tremendous harm. This book, along other great ones by people like Dr. Breggin, do a great job of quickly showing the reader how most of psychiatry is an illusion that has evolved thanks to the incentives that naturally arise in our political system. Got too much more to say here, but I just wanted to give it 5 stars and move on.

This book could have been written by the Church of Scientology, and is certainly devoid of the very scientific criteria that its author finds missing in Psychiatric ressearch. ADHD and other psychiatric conditions are overwhelmingly real neurological phenomena, and creative innovative science has helped us to undercover the mechanisms and develop treatments that radically improve the lives of those stricken. There are a number of people, some with advanced degrees, that advocate for the conspiracy theory that psychiatric illnesses are an invented category. Who would invent these things? Certainly not the people that have them! Despite the pseudo science and worn out arguments against the existence of ADHD, there is nothing new in this book, and it is certainly in stark contrast to a real physicians goal to "First do no harm": This book IS harmful, in that it presents patently false information as though it were true, and may lead to people not seeking effective treatment for themselves and their children based on the opinions of a rogue doctor with a chip on his shoulder. Read the real literature on ADHD, there is plenty of serious well designed research to back it up.
