5.0 out of 5 stars Finally - one that works!
Okay, so I feel the pain of the other reviewers...I've just spent a day going back and forth between home and different computer stores, looking for a Cardbus/PCMCIA/PC Card that would connect my iPod to my old-school Titanium Powerbook G4 1GHz. Thats right - my iPod got messed up, had to restore, then had to find a way to sync up my 35 gigs of music and videos...

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this.
I got this one because it would be faster for the iPod. It can never be recognized as USB2.0 and even worse it killed my iPod's battery pretty soon. I had to restore iPod twice. It is a denifitely no-no product. Unfortuatelly, there is no choice for 0 star.

Okay, so I feel the pain of the other reviewers...I've just spent a day going back and forth between home and different computer stores, looking for a Cardbus/PCMCIA/PC Card that would connect my iPod to my old-school Titanium Powerbook G4 1GHz. Thats right - my iPod got messed up, had to restore, then had to find a way to sync up my 35 gigs of music and videos.

First, I tried doing it via USB 1.1 - a nightmare. After 12 hours, it was still at only ~4000 of the 5354 songs in my library. So I set out looking for a card to give me USB 2.0 (curse you, Apple, for abandoning Firewire!!!).

Over the past day, I've tried 3 different cards, from 3 different brands - the Powerbook recognized all of them, but wouldn't recognize any peripheral attached to them (be it my iPod, or a USB Cardreader, or a printer). Finally went to Fry's and bought the last 2 models hadn't tried - brought them back home, popped this one in the drive, and lo and behold, it works.

Now granted, this could be the particular quirks of my machine - the other ones I tried might work fine on a PC, or other Macs...or they might not. All I know is that this one works for me...and while I've been typing this, it's transferred 678 songs to my iPod. If you've got a Powerbook and are looking for a USB 2.0 cardbus, give this one a shot. It's a whole lot cheaper than buying a new Mac (mine is still running strong 4 1/2 years out - gotta love it).

1.0 out of 5 stars Not usable for iPod, November 11, 2006

I did not purchase this item from Amazon, but after having trouble with installation, I checked here to see if others were having trouble. I also purchased this item to make iPod syncing faster. Each time I connect the iPod through this device, the laptop locks hard. My Windos XP system is fully up to date, and I checked for driver updates, and that was no help. I can run a mouse and inkjet printer through this device, but not an iPod.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: ADS Tech USB Turbo 2.0 for Notebooks USBX-2001 (Personal Computers)
Contrary to Amazon's claim this product does not support Windows 98, but only Windows 98 SE and later. This was verified with the Manufacturer, whose package description says so also.

Had to return product to Amazon because of misleading product description, by Amazon.
