These boot tops are very well made but it took some time for me to get them to work right. I cannot stress enough how well these things look. Everyone at the party thought they were complete boots.

I will tell you what I found so you won't have to go through the hassles. The boots will flop down towards your ankles if not held up with something since they are soft vinyl. I tried safety pins to hold them to my pant legs but these kept opening up. I finally put two stitches with needle and thread from each side of the boot top to the pant legs and it kept them up all night. I have thought of using some kind of cardboard insert next time I use them, but the stitch thing worked nicely.

Also, there is a right and left side boot which I found out after putting them on and stitching them in place. They have two golden buttons around the ankle, which go on the outside of the boot. In my case I had to cut the threads, put them on right and then re-stitch them in place.

Finally, I had laced shoes and these things work much better with loafers. The bottom of the boot has two elastic straps and no instructions on how to put them on. I found out the rear most strap goes on the bottom of the shoe between the sole and the heel. The front strap goes on better over the top of the shoe and not under it. It was easier to put the shoe through the strap first then put the boot on like it was a regular boot. Tying the laces was not easy once these are on, so I recommend you use loafers instead.

Despite the adjustments I had to make, the boots looked great and I recommend them to anyone, unless you are not handy with a needle and thread. These were a hit at the party.

I was a bit worried because I have a large shoe size, and at least one review made it clear that the straps were not long enough for big sizes on the bottom, and that they were a pain to get on. However, with patience and the right shoes (dress shoes without lug soles seem best) they fit my size 12s. I did stitch on an extra strap of elastic to be sure, but it wasn't needed in the end. I DID find them hard to get on. The best way was to put the boot tops onto the shoes first, then slowly and patiently put the shoes on. I needed a shoe horn to help, but I did it.

Confident in my boot tops, I went to a RenFaire and rented the rest of the costume. I got the shoes on again, in a less than ideal environment, and with considerable ease, as I knew what to do already. They held fast and looked great all day. One boot top did tend to slouch down, but I was ready thanks to other reviews). Two easily hidden safety pins later, all was well! I may pick up some large rubber bands or something to tuck under the boot cuffs to keep them up in the future.

So, while these are not perfect, they really are a good bargain. They do exactly what they should, and look good doing it. Also, if you have a little extra weight, as I do, the boot tops are not just for skinny-legged teenagers.

Looked good but you need to find a way to hold it up. Otherwise the covers will just fall down. I used Velcro strips attached from the inner top of the boot cover to my pant legs.

These boot covers are a good investment for Halloween, convention wear, and costumers in general. Any manner of black undershoe can be used to make a wide variety of looks. They are easily folded and pinned to create even more variety.

The right elastic strap that secures it to the shoe came unstitched when trying to stretch over my big ass size 11s! And they will require an elastic strap under the folded part at the knee to keep them up. But overall a good value and worth fixing. Match my black dress shoes perfectly.

These proved useful for our film's costuming needs. They are probably mens' size (this descrition would be helpful), but otherwise are a good costume accessory, whether for a film or a play or just a general costume occasion. The price was decent and the delivery was fast.

This is a pair of great covers for my pirate outfit for halloween. they are thick vinal. I did break the front elastic bands but was able to fix them. This was due to user error not the product. I have huge calves also and they fit fine. Great item all around.

I had a similar experience to [Abed R. Laracuente]. I only wore them fore one night so I wound up using duct-tape and bamboo skewers to keep them from sagging so much. The boot toppers do look *really* good, so quite a good deal. The width at the top is way too big (unless you're wearing really poofy pants?) and the straps at the bottom are way too small (barely managed to get them over my loafers. But... I *did* manage to get them on and stay up, and the result was quite impressive. Way better than the tops available at my local costume shop.

One thing that I realized the next day:
The straps go over your shoes. If you walk around outside (in mud for example), your straps will get muddy. Makes sense, but I wasn't thinking about it at the time.
