Just saying my piece...,
By Shadow0284 (Montrose, California United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: AEGIS, Vol. 1 (Aegis (Netcomics)) (Paperback)
After reading so much of this series, I felt like it was time I said my piece. Aegis blows my mind. From the very beginning it didn't just draw me in--it violently pulled me in. The story of these boy soldiers being put through their training, and the subsequent realities of war, demonstrated so much of what is taken for granted when it comes to the battlefield. So rarely do many of the jaded people in today's society think of what really goes on: the deaths, the friendships forged, the psychological damage. Aegis takes all of this and puts it out there for the reader to see. It's gritty and, despite being of the Sci-Fi genre, it is definitely realistic in terms of the emotions brought to the table. Beyond just the gripping storyline, which I must say has more turns than I ever could have expected, the actual art of the story is beautiful. Though it sticks to traditional manhwa style, the envisioning of the characters' uniforms, the decimated cityscapes, and the moments of tenderness or intense drama that are highlighted are all incredibly wrought with an attention to detail that I find to be staggering. I'm on the edge of my seat with this series constantly, and I'm eagerly anticipating the next volumes!

very confusing,
This review is from: AEGIS, Vol. 1 (Aegis (Netcomics)) (Paperback)
I just finished the first volume, but I'm really confused, in a good way! I get bored with all the titles that have overly simplified story lines that you can only half pay attention to and still get. This one is a real challenge to read, but it's rewarding. The author has created this intense and fantastical world that I loved getting lost in. I can't wait to read the rest!
