Definitely some pluses and minuses
on December 1, 2014
Definitely some pluses and minuses with this disc. On the plus side, the light is very bright and although slightly oversized the disc throws well and long. On the minus side, the switch for turning the light on and off is hard to see and difficult to operate usually have to catch it with a fingernail. I have been using with my dog for a few weeks and the light already has gone out on occasion, requiring a tap to come back on. The edge is a harder plastic than other frisbees, which may be a problem for your dog when catching mid-air. Considering the price and overall quality the disc is just OK.
The attached light fell off the disc. unfortunately, there is snow on the ground making it impossible to locate. it must have been attached with glue, I can't see any other connections on the disc. Lowering my rating, this should have held up better given the short period of use.
I am again lowering my rating as the disc has now cracked entirely across. As I mentioned in my first review, the plastic is harder and less flexible than other frisbees so it may not be suited for use with a dog or in the cold northeast. I purchased a replacement (Nite Ize Flashflight L.E.D Light Up Flying Disc) which seems more like a normal frisbee, both in size and flexibility. The difference was much more apparent after using the Nite Ize a few times. I will post a separate review but the Aerobie is more like the lid of a 5 gal plastic bucket in comparison. If you are looking for a durable throw toy for your dog, best look elsewhere.
