The horn rusts on the inside and stains the deck. The manufacturer sent the following advise "I would recommend you opening the Horn and clean out the collected liquid." So after operated in a marine environment you need to open it up and dry it.

Exact replacement for the one put on my boat back in 1984. Not very loud (neither was the old one), as spec says 106dB at 3 feet. IMHO, it drops of quickly from there.

I have had four of these over the last 12 years. In my experience, each has stopped working after about 3 years.
It appears water gets into the horn and the corrosion kills it. I have also had spiders get into the horn, make nests, and kill the horn. Not a bad horn for the price, but it will have to be replaced frequently.

So far so good. One summer on the water with no problems, I have to assume that the sound level is up to par with the statutes as I have no way of measuring it. It does sound a little weak to me. My boat did not have a horn at all when I purchased it used, and I wanted to get one marine rated and with the proper rating to meet the requirements of the state. Hookup was straightforward, white line to hot and plain black side to ground. Hard to mess up two wires. I broke the circuit with a marine horn switch from here on Amazon.

Installed this horn on a Saturday. Worked great! took boat out the next day, all horn would do is click. Checked wiring when I got home. All ok. Reinstalled my 8 year old rusty horn and it works fine. It took me a few weeks before I had time to install the new horn. Now my return window has expired so I can't even return this piece of garbage I wasted $23 + S&H on. Completely unsatisfied

I've had 4 of these now which I mount on my skiff console. I end up replacing them after about a year (two max) since they simply quit working due to water infiltration. They are inexpensive enough, easy to replace and compact enoughfor a skiff but definitely NOT designed for long-term exposure to marine conditions.

You get a good, basic, OEM type of horn here. It is okay, works well, and is easy to use and install. In most cases, it will fit the original mounting of the same type of small OEM horn that was originally on the boat to begin with. I gave it 4 stars because they all cost so much more than they are worth, ha ha! It is a $6 horn that you must pay way more than that to buy. But if you need to replace an old dead one? This will do it with ease. Enjoy
