This is an easy straight swap out for your old Prius OEM 12V battery. Just pop the vent tube connector out of your old battery and insert it into the new one and you're good to go. The whole Optima and "kit" required to mount it in the Prius made me a bit nervous. This battery is identical to your original equipment and installs in just a few minutes with basic tools. Lots of how to videos on You Tube for the swap out.

Purchased this replacement for a 2011 Toyota Prius auxiliary battery that started having issues 18 months after I purchased the car. The Toyota dealer stated that the Prius is designed to be driven every day so the aux. battery gets recharged. I don't drive it every day and around 18 months in the battery would not have enough power to start the system and bring the car to life. Realyy Toyota? This replacement provides more amps and fit perfectly in the battery slot, no issues. Much cheaper than the $300+ and labor quoted by the dealer.

I'm pretty sure this is the same battery sold by O'Reilly Auto Parts as the Super Start Platinum (which I believe is made in Pennsylvania by the same manufacturer as the Deka brand). If so, I just used this to replace the OEM battery (which lasted 10 years if the 030604 means it was made in 2004) - it has the correct polarity and terminal diameter, and fits correctly. It's a bit more trouble than you'd think it would be to replace the 12V battery in a 2004-2009 Prius, but at least you don't have to remove a wheel. If you are getting the weird park-on-a-flat-surface errors when you try to start the car, your aux battery is probably dying. Remember, the 12V battery isn't used in the Prius as a starter battery, so you really just want amp hours (Ah) and don't care about CA or CCA - the traction battery starts the motor, the aux (12V) battery is just to open the doors (if you have the smart key), boot the car's computer, and maybe run some pumps (also it may be used for steering boost during driving, although the traction battery can fill in if the aux battery is weak). If you wait until the aux battery is dead dead dead you will have to climb into the back to open the hatchback manually because there is no mechanical way to open it from the outside. Anyway, so far it's got the car working perfectly again and it seems to be getting better mpg (probably not wasting energy trying to charge a dying battery). Will post again if I have any issues.
