Great all-in-one package!,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: AIPTEK ActionHD 5.0 MP Digital Video Camera (Electronics)
It's small, takes pictures and video, and it's HD!
Note: I bought mine used for $60 so my review may be more optimistic because of the deal at the time. The video is really clear and does just as well if not better than analog camcorders. I can honestly say it's not as great as higher end HD camcorders but then again "you get what you pay for". The light doesn't do much good at all. Low light shooting still isn't that bad. I would recommend using this in a well lit area or outside during the day. I've also seen a choppy look to some quick panning shots. 720p is almost better than 1080 shooting. 1080 is not that much clearer and shooting in 720 saves memory card space, also transfering to PC is quicker because of the smaller video files. The camera is amazing. I have a Sony Cybershot that costs 4 times as much that is just a little better than this little guy. Of coarse, you don't get any advanced features or the same quality. The flash works ok in short distances. There is no lens cap, you can't attach lenses or filters, but it's a really good point and shoot digital camera. The audio recording feature works fine but really is useless. You might as well use the camcorder at low res. Audio in loud places distorts but is true with most cameras. Memory card storage is awesome. It's cheap and reusable. Just buy one big card and that's all you'll ever need again. I've never had to trash a memory card for being worn out. Just transfer onto your PC and keep shooting. The monitor is small but clear. Not recommended for those with seeing/reading problems. It is the only viewfinder. There is no other way to shoot. You can't turn it off to preserve battery life while shooting or else you can't see what you're shooting. It feels good and sturdy but I don't feel confident in dropping it on any surface. Reasonably quick startup/shutdown time. The battery lasts enough for a days use, maybe 2. I recommending having 2 on hand though, for long shooting days or just to be safe. They're cheap and can be found on Amazon. You can charge via USB or wall outlet. TV or video/audio hookup is easy. Takes only a minute. Cables included are good quality and work with other stuff I own. You have to buy additional software to get the shot video onto a DVD or Blue-ray disc. I haven't been able to use any pre-installed Microsoft Windows software to do this. This could upset some customers since software can cost upwards from $50. There is free stuff online that works ok too though. Look around before buying anything. After figuring this gadget out, it's awesome. You can take it anywhere. I never heard of this brand but am surprised at how well this camera works for the price. Don't expect miracles but expect a good camera. I really like mine and am very pleased.
