I originally gave the product a bad review due to having mine break in the first use. The seller contacted me via Amazon's seller response facility, offering a new unit! I received it within a few days, along with the suggestion not to turn the crank overly fast .. it doesn't need it. So far so good, and I really admire their standing behind their product.

Excellent function - but you need to add oil to maintain it!,

Over a year's worth of use, now. I just keep oiling this thing whenever it starts to "groan" and it perks up and works like magic. I heat my house with wood and it saves me 10-15 minutes a day. I'm in love with this simple little device!!!!!! Seriously, I get a big stupid smile on my face whenever I use it.
__________________________________ OK, I've used this for two months now. An amazing tool...but the lubrication appears to wear out FAST. My son poured olive oil through the air intake on the side of the blower and it stopped making the funky noises and got much easier to turn. Probably a light motor oil would be better, but be forewarned. It's such a great tool for starting fires quickly, even with wet wood. I am happy to add a little oil now and then. ______________________________ I've used this for almost a month now. You just need to turn the handle slowly (like reeling in a fishing line slowly) to generate a good steady gust of air to light your fire. This speeds up the fire-starting process immensely - especially with green or damp wood. The one user caution is that when you stop turning the handle on the blower you must let go of the handle. If you hold on and suddenly stop the blower you will strip the gears and break the blower. I read a couple other reviews about users who had blowers break quickly. This is the only way I can see that you could break this beautiful little tool. Great value and a great gift for under $10 for the person in your life in charge of starting fires. A real time saver.

Good for: stoking campfires, stoking charcoal grills, annoying pets, blowing out birthday candles, drying your hair, cooling yourself off, making bubbles in the bath, and inflating your cheeks!

This a great tool for grilling, it really comes in handy to make your embers super hot and keeps you cooking longer. The only setback is that it is very sensitive. When I first used it, it started to jam on me towards the end of grilling. I took it home, took the whole thing apart piece by piece, (its a simple tool to take apart and reassemble), lubed it up and it continued to function like a dream. Great tool overall, but I wished it was made tougher. As long as your easy on the turning it should be fine. And to properly lube it up you need to take it apart.

I read the other reviews, and decided "what the heck, it's only 10 bucks, give it a try".
I'm really glad I did. It's far better than any bellows I've ever used. Yes, it's small, made of plastic, and feels a bit fragile. I'd prefer a model that's larger, more solidly made, and sturdier. But ... it works! It really puts out a lot of air. Far more than I expected. I use it for an indoor fireplace, and am completely satisfied.

This is a great little machine. Several of my friends purchased one after watching me use it to stoke up the fire. I got around the problem of the plastic gears by using a little light spray oil.

Bought this as a stocking stuffer/almost joke for my husband, Christmas 2008, because our traditional bellows were pretty well worn out.
He loves it! We have a fire almost nightly for five months a year, and he has used it practically every night until recently. It has performed beautifully. Yeah, it makes a different sound from hand-pumped bellows. But he finds it very effective and at this point I don't think we'll ever go back to the hand-pumped version. Definitely recommend.

I am an avid camper and hiker and always looking for light weight equipment! This is it... the blower fits easily in my back pack and is so light it adds like no extra weight! I love it and will be giving some of these to my fellow outdoor friends for birthdays and Christmas.

The Air Grill Blower does a good job of getting a fire going. I need much less paper/twigs/commercial starters. It also perks up a failing fire nicely. It's small enough to tuck into your vehicle's trunk, but too big for backpacking. Downsides: it blows so much air that it may puff ashes into your face. It doesn't have a freewheel, so you must take you hand off the crank handle or the gears grind, probably shortening its life.

I had this with me while camping in Alaska. While everyone was huddled in their tents during a rain shower, I was able to start a roaring campfire! Awesome product.
