Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Own your own plane - without going broke! Here is the only comprehensive guide to owning an airplane in a partnership - the most affordable way to fly your own bird. the author, a veteran pilot and partner himself, shows you exactly how to take each and every step along the way, from making the decision to co-own...to choosing the right partner(s)...drawing up the partnership agreement...and buying the right plane. Privately owned airplanes average 50 hours of flight time per year, and their owners howl at the high cost of owning and flying today's light aircraft. Many pilots can't afford to own alone. The option of co-owning a plane enables all co-owners to fly their own airplane for a fraction of the cost of sole ownership. Even pilots who can afford sole ownership of an aircraft can take advantage of the extra purchasing power of a partnership to get the plane they really want. This must-have guide to the most affordable means of aircraft ownership covers all the bases, with: Real life case-study partnership profiles. Step-by-step walk-through of the preparation of your partnership agreement. Figuring the costs: financing options; insurance. Legal issues. Operations: scheduling, maintenance, record-keeping. Aircraft Partnership gives the reader a virtual partnership kit - with all the tools and information you need to construct a good, working aircraft partnership. Owning your own plane can be an attainable dream.

This review is from: AIRCRAFT PARTNERSHIP (Paperback)
I have been in several aircraft partnerships, and wondered if I would learn anything from this book. I was pleasantly surprised!

This one covers all the bases, and, although published in 1998, doesn't seem dated in any way. I definitely learned some stuff I didn't know, which is how I judge the value of a non-fiction book.

It is definitely a book that is ideal for those who are new to both aircraft ownership and partnerships. Several of the chapters pertain to tips on buying an aircraft, many of which you may already know, but don't let that scare you off. The second chapter, about partner goals and compatibility, is worth the price of the book. I made sure all three of my partners read that chapter before we signed anything.

There are two aircraft partnership agreements for your perusal, but neither seems as thorough as the free one from AOPA. In addition, there are no sample LLC operating agreements, which is what I was hoping for. For that, you'll have to hire an attorney, using the AOPA partnership agreement as a model.

But, overall, the book is definitely worth $16, esp. if you can resell it for here $14 or so when you're done! Buy it with confidence.

4.0 out of 5 stars Like the Book, November 9, 2006
This review is from: AIRCRAFT PARTNERSHIP (Paperback)
If you are new to aircraft partnerships, this is a good place to start. Geza gives you food for thought by showing things that have gone wrong in other partnerships and how to prevent them in yours! I would have liked it if there was a CD or website where I could have gone and Cut & Paste some of the agreement language without having to re-type it in from the book as I was making my own agreement.

A good starting point for anyone...
