This local Boston ginger beer is spicy, not sweet, and is the best mixer for dark and stormies. However, it's basically unavailable outside of the Boston market, unless you are willing to pay to have it shipped, which makes it ridiculously expensive. I wish the manufacturer would market it outside of Boston, but no luck....

I buy my AJ Stephans Jamaican Style Ginger Beer from Vons, 1-4 bottles at a time. The first drink of it was shocking to say the least. It is NOT sweet which I like. It is very carbonated and has a strong taste of ginger. It is perfect. I have digestive issues that cause discomfort and can be painful at times. This particular ginger beer relieves ALL of the symptoms and, weird, it suppresses my appetite.

This ginger beer is native to Boston, and like the other reviewers here, know its a shame to forsake the rest of the country. You have not had a dark and stormy until you've had it with AJ Stephans ginger beer and a small twist of lime! Buy it by the case!

My husband and I both detected a distinct and unpleasant taste up front before the ginger hits and after a few minutes it was clear to both of us - it tastes like dirt, decent loamy dirt full of humus. Just isn't what I want in a ginger beer. It was terrible!!!!!

This is one of the best Ginger Beers I've ever had. I think I've had better, and it isn't my favorite beverage, but in comparison to other ginger beers it ranks to where you couldn't do much better. I got to try this out when I ordered more Birch Beer and got sent the wrong thing.

made in Brooklyn. Patti would have drunk this ginger beer

"Reeds" One of the 1st craft GB producers. **1/2 $$$
I'd like to give it a higher rating but
it's been surpassed. If you ever see their ginger ice cream,
buy it.

"Ginger People" Good, usually some sediment on bottom ***1/2 $$$
but it is ginger/natural flavoring precipitate.
You won't find that in Canada Dry
because they don't use ginger

"Blenheim"All heat/no flavor complexity

Captain Eli's Well balanced with enough spice ***1/2 $$$

Regatta To wimpy but it's at least the real thing ** $$

Barr's Excellent value, I subscribe to it making ***1/2 $1/2

Needs a bit more complexity
I'm not sure it's actually made here but
he has a few restaurant/brewpubs Marin County, CA
All have been enormously successful.

but I thought it tasted "weird" since I've
only had it once many years ago. I would take this comment
with a grain of salt.

Good spice but the first thing I tasted was a weird earthy/dirt flavor....not pleasant. Try Fever Tree, Bundaberg, or even Trader Joe's for a better ginger beer.
