Nice Sounding Microphone. Interestingly I find it to have a similar frequency response to many stage-vocal condensers in that it has a distinctive curve meant to flatter its sound source--flat until 1000hz. This is not a neutral microphone but rather a microphone that accentuates. Your opinion may vary but I think it sounds nice. When the bass cut is selected, and without...

When the bass cut is selected, and without the -20db pad, it reminds me of a Neumann KMS 104. AKG makes nice mics and for the price it is a nice addition to a collection. I bought this microphone to use in conjunction with a Shure Beta-57 on a guitar cab for live work but also recording. The price, pad, and the frequency curve were its selling points. But it sounds good on anything with a voice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most Exellent for it's price range., September 13, 2011

I don't know what the other guy was talking about that gave a bad review. I rap and produe Hip-Hop, and everyone that has heard reordings done with this mic ask what studio was it done in. I have to tell them I have a studio at home. With the Profire 610, Logic, and this mic, that's what it amounts to. There is a need for some slight Eq, due to the fact that it records low-pass more so than hi-pass, but I do the EQ in Logic. Everyone agrees that my productions sound professsional. With an HD sound card and this mic, the sky is the limit! If you're short on cash, but want professional quality, the c214 is the way to go.
