They sound very good.

I expected them to be bass heavy like AKG's 324p earphones, but they aren't.

These buds are way better than the Shure buds that cost me 3x as much.

I wasn't expecting much from these small, nondescript earphones when I received them as a gift. Boy was I surprised when they turned out to be very balanced. I expected them to be bass heavy like AKG's 324p earphones, but they aren't. Mids are slightly forward, highs are crisp and distinct, and the bass is controlled and clear. The overall effect is clean, but warm. They are comfortable to wear for extended periods and isolate ambient noise well. The only minor complaint I have is that the soundstage seems somewhat compressed.

I bought the AKG IP2 after reading reviews online (not just here). After owning a couple pairs of great sounding AKG headphones (the old 600 ohm 240M), I was expecting good or better sounding earbuds for my $70. These things sound bad. High end and upper mids are waaaay too far forward. The one word that best describes the IP2 is harsh. On the positive side, they're comfortable, and the cable is decent.

I ought these after I got my full size AKG and was so impressed with them. And knowing AKG's reputation. The first thing I noticed was the very, very thin wire they use on these. I thought they would not last a month, and I am careful with my stuff. Well it has been over a year and they are still going strong with no issues. They sound very good. Not the best out there, but for the money, they are as good as you are going to get in this price range I think. But I have not tried them all of course. For just a quick plug on for a short listen they are fine for that. I also have a set of Shure SE215's that do sound better than these. But then these are cheaper and much smaller and are not IEM's. I am not sure if I would buy them again, but am not sorry I bought them. I think some of my dislike for these are me being use to full size over the ear headphones that these just can't compete with, of course. That is like comparing apples and oranges. These are great to just throw in your pocket in case you need them when you go out. They are worth the price you pay for them.

These buds are way better than the Shure buds that cost me 3x as much. The base is well controlled and not boomy at all, and the mids and highs are clear but not fatiguing. Excellent buy.
