Key Features

Famous AKG sound quality

For over 60 years, AKG Acoustics has been the leader in creating studio sound in headphones. We hold over 1,400 patents for our groundbreaking products; and two TECHNICAL GRAMMY Awards (2010, 2005) for sound innovation.

High SPL capability

With headphones, sound pressure level (SPL) is what separates the contenders from the pretenders. AKG K619 Black headphones offer high SPL capability for powerful sound – and the high-performance audio you demand.

In-line microphone and volume control

AKG K619 Black headphones have an in-line microphone, so you can leave the headphones on to take calls, where the sound on those calls is as clear as the music you enjoy. A three-button remote lets you control the playback functions from your Apple device.

Convenient, single-sided cable

Nothing is more frustrating than a tangled headphone cord. That’s why AKG K619 employs a cable that connects to just one ear-cup. The single-sided cable reduces tangling and allows you keep your mind on the music.

Closed-back design

AKG K619 headphones keep music in and noise out. Their closed-back design helps attenuate ambient noise while also preventing the sounds that you’re hearing from leaking out. That way your sound stays pure – and private.

Unique 3D-axis folding mechanism

DJs aren’t the only ones who need on-the-go portability from their headphones. The ear-cups on the AKG K619 fold flat when you’re not using them. This makes the headphones easier to transport and store.

1/4" (6.3mm) jack adapter included

AKG K619 headphones come with a jack converter so you can use them with audio components that have a 1/4-inch (6.3 millimeter) headphone socket. The 1/8-inch (3.5 millimeter) jack is threaded to ensure the optimal audio connection.

After reading afew mixed reviews on these I thought I would take the gamble. I was given a two year anywhere in the world warranty. Pulled them out the packet.

First impressions:
-quality materials used for padding and construction
-feel and look heavy/robust
-after plugging them in and tuning into TATW I discovered a punchy bass. Lots of excelent fine details throughout every track I listened to. 100% suited to the electro/house/trance/techno fan.
-No noise leakage at high volumes.
-worn for 5hours solid with no comfort issues.

For under £100 these are in my opinion the best headphones that have ever graced my ear drums.

Awesome piece of kit. Much more in depth sound than any of the monster range. Better than my old sennheiser hd IIs.

We bought 5 of these for our office. Out of those, three have broken (including one warranty replacement). In all three cases, the plastic joint above the speaker hinge has snapped. The last pair only saw two months of use. It's either poor quality or a design flaw.

Another day, another set of headphones added to the arsenal. I have everything from very high end Shure and Sennheiser headphones to a handful of mid priced headphones from brands like Sony, Sennheiser, Bose, Monster, Beats and AKG, to a drawer full of the cheap stuff. While the super high end phones are great, they are also super expensive (too expensive for me to comfortably take them on a trip, for example). Also they're usually klunky looking for wearing outside the home. The middle ground headphones are sometimes really good, but also mostly have their limitations. And the cheap stuff is all over the map.

Anyway, back to these phones. They're definitely priced and marketed as middle ground headphones, intended for use outside the house. They're kind of trendy looking--as much so as over the ears headphones can be--and they're priced to compete with stuff like Monster.

The question is: How do they sound.

Answer: Pretty good. VERY deep bass, clear, non fatiguing highs. Clear midrange. These are NOT the headphones for you if you want a neutral listening experience. However, if you are looking for a "fun" headphone that will do well with bass rich music (rock, rap, etc.) you'll likely enjoy these. To compare these with what I suspect is one of AKGs competitive targets: These wipe the floor with the popular Beats by Dr Dre line--better defined bass and without the hideous flabby midrange and mediocre high end.

In terms of long term listening (several hours): I found these headphones pretty comfortable when I put them on--a little tight on the ears, but nothing bad. But I did start to get mechanical fatigue from the headband and earpads after a couple of hours.

I just got these yesterday. I will update this review once I have a bit more experience with them.

A bit about me and what I'm looking for in a headphone:
I'm NOT an audiophile in any sense, but I CAN appreciate quality sound. I'm going to be using these headphones in an office setting and mainly for air travel. I was looking for a pair of over-the-ear cans mainly for noise isolation and comfort on long flights. I'll be using these for watching movies on my iPad as well as listening to music. I like the idea of the in-line volume controls as well as phone mic. The headphones also need to fold up relatively neatly for stowage in a carry-on bag. Lastly, an unassuming yet good looking set of headphones would be nice. All of that in a $100 package would be great. (Bought these for $79.00)

First impressions.
Pros:
Outstanding sound quality. A bit bass heavy but mids and highs are still crisp and clear. Good looking. Compact. Seemingly well-built. Pretty good noise isolation so far. (Have only tested in an office setting but I have a feeling that air travel will be the true test that these cans might not pass.)

Cons:
NOT over-ear. Definitely on-ear. (Almost every review or search for OVER-ear AKGs brings these up. They definitely not what I was looking for.) That said, these are very comfortable for about 10 minutes and then they are borderline unbearable. (This will ultimately be my reason for returning them unless they soften up considerably.) This is the precise reason that I didn’t want ON-ear cans. I wear glasses / sunglasses nearly 100% of the time and these make it painful to do so.

These were my first on ear headphones and coming from the ultimate ears triple Fi 10 pros I wasn't that impressed at first. However, over time I have come to really appreciate their sound and realised that a bit more volume is required to power the larger drivers than iems. They produce powerful bass but it does not overpower the mids or high end which really brings to life rock, dance and r n b tracks. The build quality is reasonable and the only thing I can really fault is that the wire is not replaceable and the headband is too tight. At £60 when I bought them they represent great value for money.
