5.0 out of 5 stars AKG MIc Stand, tripod floor stand with extension, January 3, 2007

This review is from: AKG KM259-BLACK Tripod Floor Stand
This is the most heinously overpriced mic stand you will ever see in your life. Problem is that there is a good chance it is freaking worth it. It never slips, and if it is going to fall it does so in a slow enough fashion for you to easily catch it before any harm is done. It has a bunch of extensions and I have used it for a Bass Drum, Guitar Amp, Acoustic GTR, then Female Vocalist all within the same 40 hour period. It has a good low center of gravity, and plus the stand does not take up much space when broken down so I just leave it out 24/7. If there is a quick track to cut 90% of the time I will be reaching for this stand and clipping the proper mic to it.

If you are just getting started doing demos and stuff, by all means blow your wad on Mics--not Mic stands. The stand has never improved a tone at all (except via not rattling, I guess). However, as far as stands do go, it is pretty damn good. The only problem is I would never put a U87 or anything that heavy upon it.
