4.0 out of 5 stars Not his best work
Alapalooza by Weird Al Yankovic is forty-four minutes and fifty-two seconds and was released on October 15, 1993. None of the songs on the CD charted in the United States. Alapalooza reached #46 on the U.S. Billboard 200 Album charts and went Gold. This was Al's eighth studio album. Bohemian Polka just does not have the same ring as the original Bohemian Rhapsody. . . .but have those of you who call "Frank's 2000" TV" an original ever heard of the TV show "Mystery Science Theater 3000"? They're the ones who broadcast awful old movies just for the sake of wisecracking upon them. (And yes, one of the characters is named TV's Frank.) The song bears suspicious resemblance to their theme song, the 'MST3K...

The rest of the songs in my opinion just don't live up to other Al songs. Alapalooza by Weird Al Yankovic gets a B-.

I bought this cd and thought that I would only like half of the songs but I listened to the cd and all the songs were great! I think this is Weird Al's best written cd. My favorite songs on this are "Livin' in the Frige", and "Bohemian Polka". If you are looking for the right cd, this is the one.

This album is the very best of the "weird Al" universe. I collect his CDs and I must say that this is by far the best one. From `Frank's 2000" TV` to `Living in the fridge` it is his most exquisit work ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good. Funny, good parodies, good tunes., August 29, 1998

I like "Jurrasic Park", "Harvey the Wonder Hampster", and "Livin' in the Fridge". It's a good CD, though a WALY (Weird AL Yankovic) masterpiece it's not. Overall, I liked it, especially "Harvey the Wonder Hampster". It's to the point, hilarious, and could be used a rouser for a high school with Harvey as it's mascot. "Today, it's the Edison Wilcats versus the North High Wonder Hampsters!" the announcer says. Two thumbs up, and my buddy Bananas gives it two thumbs up, and two opposable toes up!

4.0 out of 5 stars The best of his later albums, July 27, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: ALAPALOOZA (Audio CD)
The seeming consensus of most Al fans is that Bad Hair Day was a breakthrough for Al, but I still give the edge to Alapalooza. I've always been a much bigger fan of Al's original songs rather than his parodies (which I guess puts me in the in the minority), but I think that this is actually one of his stronger all-around parody efforts (with the exception of "Jurrasic Park.") "Bedrock Anthem" is a riot and "Achy Breaky Song" will delight any one driven crazy by the song which it parodies...actually one of the more scathing, mean-spirited (toward the original artis/song) parodies he's done, and I kind of like that side of Al. "Frank's 2000 inch TV" and "Waffle King" are great originals, and his cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody" is nothing short of inspired.
