So I was insanely excited to use the Monster Leaf Bag. Tonight got home, hooked it up to the top of my bagger by following the instructions, and got ready to run over some leaves on my 1.25acres of forest. What an awesome idea this is! Much better than raking, leaf blowing, having to empty bins every two seconds, or paying a grand for some leaf mulching monstrosity to pull behind my lawn tractor.
Anyway, it took two passes with the tractor before the back of the bag blew out. Right where the tarp material is stitched to the piece you tie together to close the bag. Stitching is torn and the tie off piece now seperate from the bag...
None too impressed with the durability... but figured I would give 2 stars because it is a good concept and others seem to be doing well with it.

UPDATE MAY 2012: Stapled and tied together the end of the bag to try and get Some use out of it. Worked for most of 1 day and I was able to get most of the leaves in my yard picked up with it before huge holes started appearing in the bag. Honestly, the idea could be duplicated by buying a cheap tarp and tying it around. I am shocked that there are not more options for getting leaves off the ground for those of us with heavily wooded yards.

the bag works awsum....it's a great idea and I love it, but, i'm gonna do some modifying to make it last longer, after doing half my acre lot i looked at the bottom where it drags and it's wearing very fast, it says in the instructions that it will last the average person for a long time as long as you don't drag it over anything but grass but that's not true, they have in the instructions something you can do is make a wood deck that the bag can sit on while you drag it, not a bad idea but I'm thinking some nice strong flat thin plastic is gonna work nice for me, so remember to do something about the dragging and it should last and last.

I highly recommend the Monster Leaf Bag.

I have a nice sized ranch home in a neighborhood with lots of trees. In the past, I used my ride mower to mulch and also raked leaves. This took forever and the mulch ruined the grass. So, I checked out a wide range of leaf collectors online and settled with the Monster Leaf Bag.

I hooked it up to my ride mower and took care of everything in a very short time. It was exciting to see this bag pick up piles 2' tall with no trouble, leaving behind a beautiful, clean yard. It really takes something that can handle more than the small grass catchers on mowers.

The bag is very well made and will last for years. It sure beats spending thousands on the other high-priced machinery with questionable results. It is also impressive to see. My wife wants to fill it up with presents for needy children on Christmas.

I just purchased my second bag after my first finally gave way with some rips and tears. I've probably had the first one for 4 years so while I was tempted to give it 4 stars for developing a hole in the bottom and some other tears, I couldn't bring myself to do it considering I've dragged this thing around for so long and what I paid for it. What did the most damage was dragging it over downed tree branches in the woods which snagged on the bottom (so try to avoid that!).

This product literally cut my hole day affair of raking leaves onto a tarp into an under 2 hour chore. The great thing about that is it makes it realistic to do your lawn on multiple occasions during the fall. When you compare this product to the sophisticated versions you tow behind your mower it will not take you long to appreciate the significant differences. In a nutshell they are cost, storage and maintenance. The cost of this product is significantly less than what you'd pay for just about anything else. For storage you just fold it up for next season. And maintenance involves throwing out your old one and buying a new one when you need it. If I had to do it every year it would still be worth it when you weigh the cost and the value of your time.

This product isn't perfect but it's still the best I've found for the task at hand when considering the cost.

(suggestions for the manufacturer: don't use nylon rope, it melts on hot mufflers. Also, provide some patching material with the product. Thanks!)

I have a modest size lawn that takes me about an hours to mow with a lawn tractor that has a 40" mower deck. My lot has 14 fully grown trees, along with another half dozen or so in my neighbor's yard that are just over my property line. My other property line is 300 feet long and abuts a fully wooded lot. In other words, I have a ton of leaves that land in my yard.

I came across the Monster Leaf Bag product about three or four years ago, while shopping in my local hardware store. I was intrigued as the product description of how it worked seemed to make a lot of sense to me. The sheer volume of the bag would let me do more collecting of leaves than emptying the tractor's supplied clipping bags.

I bought the bag and brought it home to try. Wow. What a difference! The mower would pickup leaves and blow them into the bag and when full, I'd dump them on a tarp we set up. We would transfer the leaves by hand or shovel into the paper yard waste bags for the town to pick up. This went very nicely.

The next year, I thought some more about this. I recalled how the previous year when I was too aggressive in areas with a lot of leaves and it would clog the discharge chute. I remembered how everything got mulched up pretty well. Since I never pick up grass clippings in spring, summer and fall, I thought about mulching the leaves with only the mower deck for the first pass and then going over it a second time with the bag attached. When I did this, I was able to get a lot more leaves in the bag, as they were significantly shredded by the first pass with the mower. Instead of having a bunch of leaves that were cut into 3 or 4 pieces; they were cut into 7 or 8 pieces. They would fill the bag much more completely as a result.
