It was very easy to make and stays together well.

I would have expected plastic at least, but since it is cardboard it comes out uneven and not very colorful due to soaking up the markers.

Definitely a good gift for a kid who likes to assemble things.

My 5-year old son loved this project, but yes (per the prior reviewers note) it is a craft project, not an electronic robot. It will roll if you push it, but is more of a display item. I thought that was clear by the description though, so I wasn't expecting anything else. As a craft project it is a really fun one for young boys, as it also involves some plastic bolts and assembly, in addition to coloring and stickers. So it is kind of a combination beginning model/craft. Definitely meant for young boys, I would say preschoolers could handle it with parental help, and 5 - 7 can do it by themselves.

This was a gift for a 5 (almost 6) yr old little boy. He and his dad had a great time putting it together, and his dad gives it a big thumbs up, as does the little guy. Alex crafty items can't be beat. They are really clever and well put together and are big hits with all my grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Since a younger child was getting a remote control robot, I got this so the other one had a robot, too, and he has really liked it. I didn't get a review on how well it withstood a 5 yr old (and 2 yr old busybody), but I know it was easy to do and a good father-son project to build together.

My very intelligent four year old nephew fell in love with this the moment he unwrapped it. When he got it home he put it together and took it apart four times in the first day he had it, and from what I've heard he's been playing with it regularly since Christmas. For cardboard, it's pretty sturdy. Definitely a good gift for a kid who likes to assemble things.

I got this craft project because 1.) I needed a busy project for my 4.5 year old daughter where she could do the majority of project "work" herself and 2) She has expressed an interest in robots. I was very satisfied with the challenge level/appropriateness and the final product which has held some interest for her after completion.

My son just turned 6 in October and loves to build and create. He has a fantastic imagination but doesn't nec. like to sit and color or draw. He's smart with an analytical mind, loves science, etc. but me being the crafty one, I thought this would be a perfect gift that would tie in things we both enjoy to work on together. He got it for Christmas and is having a lot of fun with it. Yes, it's cardboard... I suppose that isn't written in the description and perhaps should be since there were some reviewers that found that to be a negative. For some reason, though it didn't say, I sort of assumed it was cardboard so I wasn't disappointed. My main problem is that mine came without the head but Amazon is great in service and is refunding our money so we can purchase another. Thankfully, my son is determined and he and Daddy built their own head for it while we wait for the replacement to arrive. All in all, he's happy so I'm happy.

Some of the parts were broken. Got this for my seven yr old and now have to figure out how to return it.

I like the concept of ALEX toys. They are interactive and challanging. The quality of this toy is disappointing. The body of the robot is cardboard and can only be colored once. The nuts and bolts that hold the robot together need an adult's help unless your child is sophisticated at putting complex toys together. The ALEX monkey was stupendous, the robot is marginal at best.
