Practice Decision-Making and Fine Motor Skills

Like all toys in the Alex Little Hands line, the Twist and Drill is designed with the cognitive, physical, and practical needs of toddlers in mind. The green power drill and purple screwdriver are sized for young hands and are comfortable to hold and operate. Their use helps your child explore different textures and master fine motor skills, as well as recognize and follow sequences and patterns. The different screw heads teach children to recognize shapes, and the variety of colors serves as another way for children to choose methods of organizing their tool options.

Opportunity for Cooperative Play

The Twist and Drill tool kit includes different tool options and combinations, a bag of bolts, and many different projects to work on. These qualities make this toy an excellent option for cooperative play. While working on collaborative projects, children share skills they may already have while developing new ones together.

Just Like the Grown-Ups

Because these tools are designed to be smaller, safer versions of real tools, the Twist and Drill presents a wonderful opportunity for children to work alongside parents working on their own projects with full-size drills and screwdrivers. And once your children learn enough about their tools, they may even teach you a thing or two!

What's in the Box

Power drill, 3 interchangeable bits, 1 screwdriver handle, 4 paperboard vehicles, 8 wheels, 28 bolts, practice board, and visual assembly instructions.

Very disappointed in the product. Cardboard with plastic screw holes and plastic screws. Very cheap. My kid played with it one day and that was it.

Not impressed with this latest craft toy we have tried, out of many, from the ALEX company.

Their toy line trends to the "minimalist/crafty" side, but this is a little too far in that direction, IMO, which results in a boring toy/activity.

The others from ALEX we have tried, include some big craft kit/box, which was awesome. Tons of variety, and just a great activity for a rainy day with your kid or kids. We also use at least two of their expandable art folders, which are great, and finally we tried a kit with crumpled paper that you make into pictures. Pretty great, hands on stuff for our age kids (3/6/9).

I cannot recommend this one though, because 1. the bits for the automatic screwdriver don't stay on, which causes great frustration (to parent and kid). But more importantly perhaps is 2. it's just not any fun. There a PLENTY of great "drilling" toys/kits out there that I would recommend, like pretty much anything from Battat, for instance.

Sorry, ALEX, you make some good, to very good kits, but this isn't one of them.

We received this as a Christmas gift for our 2 year old son (just turned 2) and he likes playing with it. We have to help him but he will quickly learn how to use it on his own. I like how simple it is to play with and that the screws and holes are different colors so he can learn his colors. At this point we don't use the drill a lot but as he gets older it will be used more and my 4 year old son can use it. The quality is decent. I wouldn't pay more then $20 for this toy though.

This is a very simple toy drill set for toddlers. It comes with a little toy power drill (powered by 2 AAAs) that has dual-direction action, 3 drill bits, a screwdriver, a bunch of bolts, a practice cardboard with holes, some cardboard vehicles, and a few other small things.

The packaging was easy to remove, and once freed, the toy set provided a lot of fun to my youngest child, who now likes to carry it everywhere he goes, having been used to seeing his big daddy drilling everywhere in our humble house! This is also a safe toy, and I really wish toy makers would make more simple yet fun (and educational and NON-VIOLENT -- unlike video games like Angry Birds which teach kids to kill from an early age) toys like this.

I have always like the idea of offering a simple tool to build a toy. This has kept my sons attention and it gives him the coordination that he needs. I think these type of toys give my boy a head start on hand eye coordination and see the improvement when he works with other toys. The boy loves the drill as he can follow me around and help fix stuff just like daddy. It's one of those toys that I think every kid should have, kind of like every kid has a puzzle.

Happy Shopping!

We got this Drill for our 18 month old grandson for Christmas and he loves it. As a little toddler he is rough with it and it stands up beautifully to a little ones wear and tear of playing. It is also very safe. We give this toy a high thumbs up.

My 2.5-year-old son received it as a gift and after a bit of trial and error, he had it working. Forwards and reverse frustrated him but he could do it most of the time.

I like to rotate toys and it's been put away for the last 4-6 months. Just brought it out and my now 4-year-old was thrilled that it was back. He's played with it for 2 hours every day for the last week. Forward and reverse is easy! I reserve my last star because he would love to have more vehicles to work with and I feel that he'll be bored of it in a couple weeks again. All the pieces have all held up over the last year and half and I looked it up today to likely buy it as a Christmas gift for someone else!

This toy is endlessly engaging for every kid that has tried it at my house. Kids as young as 18 months can practice screwing the bolts with the had screwdriver and changeable bits, when they get a bit older, closer to 2 they can use the power drill with the interchangeable bits and that adds a whole new dimension of fun. The drill works in forward and reverse and has really good battery life. The cardboard cars are REALLY well made and would hold up to rough play, even stepping on them doesn't bend or warp them at all. I love this kit and know my 2 year old will be playing with this for years to come. A really great value, this will be a go to gift idea for birthday parties!
