We homeschool, and I have expanded my preschool curriculum to include lots of Alfie stories, all my girls love to sit and listen as the writing appeals to my 2, 4, and 6 yo simultaneously and teaches lovely gentle lessons about sibling relationships and the trials of being a small person. In this Alfie book, initially there are maybe a dozen of two page spreads talking about Alfie's world with topics: Face Bodies Hand & Feet, Alfie's Mum, Alfie's Dad, Annie Rose (Alfie's Sister), Alfie's Neighbors, Meet Alfie's Friends, Bernard, In the Park, Pets, Grandma's House. You do not have to read the other books to relate to this one. It's a lovely treasury. There is one longer story about his pet rock, Bonting, but I don't think it's the same story as the one where he loses Bonting in the seaweed. There is one other long story about grandma, and a map with grandma's house. I think there are at least 17 sections, so lots of reading, and lots of beautiful illustrations on every page to keep a preschooler's attention. This book does not have a collection of stories strictly as the other big Alfie books have, but there's a lot of charming writings and little anecdotes about Alfie's world, and the book is well made with a sturdy hardcover binding.
