I think most people either really like the idea of the Snuggie, or they really feel disdain for it. I thought it was a brilliant idea, and have had my eye on one since last winter. Since I am in charge of the heating bill, I am always looking for ways to cut back. So far, I have not been able to break my husband down enough to use one, but I may get there. I received the Pink Snuggie as a birthday gift about a month ago, and I was impressed with how soft it is. It is a campy and fun bubble gum/Barbie pink, and surprisingly warm considering the obviously inexpensive fabric it is made of. The fabric pills badly when you wash it, but it gets even softer with multiple washings. Hey, I am not using this thing for the looks of it, so that is fine. It is nice and long so you can really stretch out and still be fully covered - at 5'9, my legs usually peek out from under a throw, so I like this aspect quite a bit. This does considerably impede any attempt to walk around while wearing the Snuggie, and unless you like tripping and falling on your face, I don't really recommend it. I tried walking around in it a few times the first day by hiking it up and dragging it with me, but my husband said I looked like a pink friar, so I gave it up.

Another nice aspect is that a considerable donation is made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation with your purchase. It also comes with a free booklight that sheds a very small amount of light onto your current reading material. I haven't used it yet but to test it out to see if it worked.

Overall, I am pleased with this blanket, as it is cozy and my pup likes to lay on my lap when I put it on. I may get a second one as a backup, and will probably get the dog her own Dog Snuggie for Christmas.

I was given 2 Snuggies as gifts and they are very warm and comfortable however after just 2 washes the fleece started pilling. For those out there that are unschooled in the differences in fleece, pretty much every fleece in the world is soft and warm to begin with. One of the biggest differences between high quality and low quality fleece lies in the "pilling effect". Pilling occurs when the garment's fibers roll up, often after being washed, and lie on the surface like tiny round pills. This pilling seriously effects almost every aspect of the fleece including how it feels and its ability to keep heat in. All fleece pills eventually. You can tell how old a Patagonia Synchilla jacket is based off of how much pilling has taken place. High quality fleece doesn't pill for quite some time and cheap fleece starts to pill almost immediately. I had serious pilling after only 2 washes with the Snuggies and I am over 20 washes with my Slankets and they still haven't shown any sign of pilling yet.

The bottom line - Snuggies are cheaper but you get what you pay for. A Slanket costs more but its going to last you a considerably longer amount of time than the Snuggie and it will keep its softness and its ability to keep in warmth much longer than the Snuggie. I gave my Snuggies to the Salvation army and purchased 4 Slankets. My advice is to stay as far away from the Snuggie as possible. Spend a little more and get something that is actually much higher in quality. If however you care more about saving money than actually buying something of quality then maybe the Snuggie is for you after all.

Got is as both a practical gift and a gag gift for the wife. We have made fun of Snuggies for a long time now and thought it would be perfect for Christmas! She actually uses it and the kids get to snuggle in as well. Good enough value for the cost and as a bonus my son (alomst 3) loves the "free" book light as a toy!
