I've had my Alvin cutting mat for years and it really does what it says. Don't be fooled by cheap imitations. Just because another brand is green doesn't mean it's self healing. Alvin mats really do heal when you cut them. They remain smooth afterwards. I have 3 mats from 3 different companies, and only 2 of them self heal. Alvin is one of them. After all these years, my Alvin is stained but still smooth and not warped in any way. The price shown here is excellent. Alvin is the way to go!

This is a good size for me right now, it fits on the table just so. I just started using it and I'm not pressing very hard, but I know I'm cutting through the fabric and I can't even see the mark on the mat. I really like the rotary cutter/mat combination. Much easier than scissors for most pattern cutting. I think this mat seems sturdy enough. You do want a firm surface underneath it because the mat is a little bendy, so you need a table or a board - not carpet.

Overall, I really like this mat. It's a good size and does the job it's supposed to do. My one complaint is that the measurement numbers are on the inside of the grid line. When I line my fabric up with the corners, I can't see the numbers anymore! I ended up taking a sharpie and re-numbered the mat on the outside of the grid line so I could easily see my measurements. I'm not sure if other users

Don't let that one details deter you from buying the mat, though! It's a great product for the price!

I wanted a good quality cutting mat to extend my cutting surface for my quilting projects. My older mats were nice and thick and have held up great. The new mat is just as thick and seems to be of the same quality. I liked it so much, I purchased a second one. I recommend this mat.

I received 2 mats, the 18x24 and the 24x36. These are great surfaces to work on and have great visual aids for cutting stuff on. I took the big one to the art show to mat some prints. The work table wasn't really in direct sunlight4 weeks ago and the high was 83. So I noticed the matte curling up like a clam shell. The thing won't lie flat and is ruined. So I took the smaller one to our beach house last week. it was transported in a tub with the other kits. when I got there this too was curled up even worse than the later one. I do not remember seeing warning labels about heat. Now these 2 precision tools are nearly useless. They were really pretty expensive.

This mat was great for the first few days but has since bowed up and cannot be flattened back out. Makes no sense because it has not been moved from my flat sewing table in an air-conditioned room.

This mat is BIG, but is fantastic to have around. I love this thing and want another!! The only thing that would make this better would be if one side was scaled for metric and the other scaled for inches.
