Flimsy but functional.,

Not quite as sturdy as I had hoped. I would definitely NOT check this on an airplane, only carry on. It sorta locks at a particular length if you twist it a little (twist it a little more or push really hard and it unlocks), but it feels a bit like you're breaking things, and I'd suspect over time this will wear out. All in all, if you just need a shoulder strap to carry your poster and maybe some light protection against bumping into things (as I do), then this works fine.

Finally, a document tube that is actually long enough to hold our 48"x48" posters. I have purchased others that claimed to extend to 48" but this is the first one that actually does!

Telescoping Tube,
This review is from: ALVINŽ Telescoping Tube - 3" I.D. Friction Lock (Misc.)
I have two other brands of telescoping tubes that lock into place. My fear with this product is that my posters might get crushed because it does not lock into place. Other than that concern, this is a nice product.

Alvin poster tube defects,

Both ends of the strap come off easily from the cap and tube and need to be painstakingly re-secured from time to time upon repeated use. They are not sturdy and need substantial quality improvement.

Based on the existing reviews, I was expecting a far inferior product. This is a well built tube that I use for transporting scientific posters. It easily fit my 44" poster. The cap stayed on securely. The tube didn't slide open. I'm not sure what more I could ask for. It seems plenty durable. While I probably wouldn't check a tube like this for a flight, it works well as a carry-on and easily fits into most overhead compartments. The only missing item is some place to write identification information, but it's easy enough to affix a label or, if you're in a pinch as I was, write on a small piece of paper and use clear tape over it.

This tube is durable, the telescoping feature is nice to allow compact storage, the wide diameter allows for multiple posters to be carried together. The one downside is the strap, even when adjusted, seems a little short when the tube is fully extended.

Works to transport scientific posters,

This is a standard tube that can be used to transport the huge posters I print for scientific conferences. Most poster tubes can't hold the posters I print while this one expands to a size that works. Nothing fancy but very functional.

I purchased this product for a conference that I was presenting at. It fit my poster perfectly (it was 4' x 6'). I like that it expands, so you can adjust the fit for your poster.

The product specifications say it has a friction lock to keep it in place at a desired length, but that entirely depends on how snugly the two tubes fit into each other. This tube feels very cheap and the tolerances aren't very good so I'm afraid it won't stay at the length I want and will crush my poster. I absolutely would not check this, and I don't even feel good carrying it on the plane either. I would much rather have a tube that I can trust to lock in place. Overall, terrible design, and for the price I paid ($20), this is a piece of garbage. Maybe if it were only 5 bucks it would make sense.

A Nice Product,

It's really a great one. It's the same as that of a friend that I used before and I liked. The order came within a reasonable time and it was in good condition. It can hold 4-6 posters if they are properly packed/rolled.
However, it would be great if the manufacturer made the leather belt/handle longer than it is currently because it seems too short |
