Not one of my favorite AM Gold selections, September 27, 2007
This review is from: AM Gold 1975 (Audio CD)
In 1975, I was in the military and stationed in upstate New York. I recall that the Top 40 radio stations (AM of course) were really crummy up there. Now I realize that there was nothing at all wrong with the stations. It's just that in 1975 the music pickings were slim.
Time-Life did a great job with the AM Gold series. But the candidates for their 1975 CD were maybe a little weak. Except for America's awesome and timeless "Sister Goldenhair", I can't find a thing I really like. ("Poetry Man", "I'm Not Lisa", "Lovin You". KC & The Sunshine Band is even on here with "That's the Way I Like It"). Labelle's "Lady Marmalade" has a certain coolness, but not enough to keep this thing breathing.
Of course, check the whole list on Amazon's product description page for yourself. Maybe my tastes are off the mainstream. I actually do own this CD, but never seem to want to take it out and play it.
Hmmm. I generally have fond memories of 1975. But this CD disturbs them a bit. And which 1975 car is on your "I'll gotta buy one of those someday" list? Personally, this one is not for me.
