The Good: Great for up to 4" of snow...can clear a 2 car driveway in eight minutesThe Bad: Not good for deeper snows because nobody can push that amount of snow forward...you are not carrying the wieght, but you can not push it forward either.

too much snow comes off the sides,

This product has tremendous potential, but in snowfall that is only ~1-2 inches deep it simply pushes the snow off to the sides more than it collects the snow up onto the Snowscoop. The front edge of the Scowscoop is thick and blunt, rather than a thinner blade like a normal snow shovel. This means the snow has to rise above a 1/2 to 3/4 inch surface in order to get up onto the Snowscoop. Unfortunately this causes any snow less than an inch deep to simply be pushed forward (rather than coming up onto the Snowscoop) and it eventually just gets pushed off to the sides of the Snowscoop. I love the very sturdy wheel, and I like the ability to replace the metal protector edge. I think a differently designed protector blade could improve on the design even more, providing a gradual ramp up onto the Snowscoop, and perhaps even adding side walls that force more snow onto the Snowscoop rather than escaping off to the side.

Somewhat helpful/No replacement for a Snowblower,

Its great on flat surfaces, so order wisely. If you have an older driveway or uneven sidewalks, i would think differently. But...it has been somewhat helpful, i think it also needs more than one wheel. And a blade that is more heavy duty.

one was given to me,

One of these was given to me by a friend and I tried it twice. It worked OK in light snow but in anything over a few inches (or heavy snow) just was very difficult - it cant pick up the snow and I dont have enough horsepower to compress the piles to make room for the snow. a bit of a disappointment but it was free to me.

The "snowscoop" arrived quickly, was very easy to put the wheel on, and does what it is advertised to do. It moves large amounts of snow with much less effort and was easier on my back than shovelling.

I think this is one of the best oversized shovels you can get. It helps you you catch a lot of snow you would have missed with a smaller shovel. Shipping was inexpensive.-Akis

The only thing I use in a heavy snow,
This review is from: Snowscoop
Look, if you're one of those people who can't stand a single grain of snow on your driveway (to the point that you spread so much rock salt that it's deeper than the snow), the Snowscoop isn't for you. Get yourself a heated driveway and move along. But if you need to move a boatload of snow off of a ridiculously long hilly driveway and don't want the hassle of a snowblower, the Snowscoop is what you want. Is it going to make your driveway look as if there were no snowfall? No. But it's going to MOVE A HUGE AMOUNT OF SNOW with minimal effort (and virtually no bending-at-the-waist) -- it will take an otherwise impassable driveway to one that you can drive/walk on in minutes. And, this is the kicker for me, it's fun to use. I get a running start at the top of the hill and swoosh down to push the show off to the side. People out walking stop and watch me, asking "where'd you get that?". I swear if I charged folks to use it, I'd have people paying ME to clear my driveway.

For the price, the ease of use in the snow and no back pain,... this product is worth it all! It cuts the time of back-breaking shoveling to 1/3 - 1/2 of the time! You can't use it on stairs, but if you have a driveway or any length of sidewalk to shovel, this product is definitely worth it!

Best money I ever spent,
(I'm not affiliated with Snowmaster in any way.) Been using the Snowmaster Snow scoop for about 10 years and it's the best money I ever spent. The photo doesn't show you the wheel under the board, so that it glides along easily--you don't have to push, and you never lift the snow. Handholds on each side allow you to simply roll the board on its side to dump the snow, so that you never, never lift any weight. Clears a super wide path, too. Much wider than a snow shovel. I have 2 bad discs in my back, and this is a safe way for me to clear heavy snowfall. Thanks, Snowmaster!

We purchased this product because our friend had one and left it out for all of the neighbors to use as they kept coming over to borrow it. I figured if it was that good, I'd take a chance. It doesn't really get down to the bottom , but it's just an easy way to shovel away light snow. I like that aspect because you don't have to think about going out. It's just really fast and fairly lightweight.Joyce |
