Great book. I've already done a few of the hikes from it. The hikes are rated in difficulty, so you know what you're getting into. The details on Shelters, campsites, water... are perfect. Directions to trailheads and parking are complete and accurate. All you need in addition to this book is an actual map of the area. The maps in the book are good for an overview, but won't do for safety's sake once you're out there on your own.
I'm looking forward to doing more of the hikes next summer.

We cannot wait until it gets a little warmer so we can begin some of these trips!!! There are some GREAT backpacking trips in here, especially for those who usually only have weekends available. A lot of these are hikes that can be done in 2 or 3 days, so a weekend or a weekend plus a day off is perfect.
We are not full equiped for overnight winter hikes, so after a day hike often spend the evening going through the book deciding what hikes we want to do first!! For the weekend backpacker, I highly reccomend this book. The hikes range from easy to hard, so even the experienced hiker should be able to find something to suit them.
It also tells you what map you should purchase, along with trail info/adivce, and places to camp overnight and how far into/from the trail they are.
