This is a very useful, and helpful, easy book to read. The hikes are detailed well and the maps and directions are clear. The tips and pictures are true to what you will encounter if you try these pleasant hikes. Even if you don't actually get out there and walk these trails ,the wonderful stories in the Nature and History Essays are a bonus.

I wish this book had more family hikes and recommended area of D.C. that I was unfamiliar with. But, it was a very torough book in the sense of describing the hikes and the process to initiate each one.
