Product Description

A10 7850

Up to 12 compute cores on one chip

Get more of what you want with an AMD A-Series APU

We changed the game for PCs by revolutionizing the APU which combines the power of a multicore CPU with AMD Radeon graphics all in one energy-efficient chip.

Unlock your system’s full potential with HSA-enabled APUs.

Experience a new level of immersion with AMD TrueAudio technology.

Blaze through apps with AMD Turbo Core technology.

Use AMD Mantle technology3 to raise your game to unprecedented levels with hyper-efficient performance.

Get extreme performance with Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture, featuring supercharged AMD Radeon R7 graphics.

AMD’s Revolutionary Mantle

AMD’s Mantle is a groundbreaking graphics API that promises to transform the world of game development to help bring better, faster games to the PC. Read on to discover how AMD is working with the game development community to revolutionize the PC gaming experience.

Mantle reduces the CPU’s workload by giving developers a way to talk to the GPU directly with much less translation. With less work for the CPU to do, programmers can squeeze much more performance from a system, delivering the greatest benefits in gaming systems where the CPU can be the bottleneck.

GCN Architecture - Primed to enable astonishing performance and breathtaking image quality

Available on select AMD Radeon R7 series, R9 series and HD 7000 series graphics cards, the visionary Graphics Core Next (GCN) Architecture is a radically new approach to the design of a consumer GPU, making it a top choice for gamers who expect the best.

Designed to push not only the boundaries of DirectX 11 gaming, the GCN Architecture is also AMD's first design specifically engineered for general computing. Representing the cutting edge of AMD’s graphics expertise, GCN GPUs are more than capable of handling workloads-and programming languages-traditionally exclusive to the main processor. Coupled with the dramatic rise of GPU-aware programming languages like C++ AMP and OpenCL, the GCN Architecture is the right architecture at the right time.

Multidisplay technology for gaming, productivity and entertainment

We are taking you beyond the boundaries of traditional PC displays. AMD Eyefinity technology expands the traditional limits of desktop computing by multiplying your screen area. With multiple monitors, games become more immersive, workstations become more useful and you become more productive (an average of 42% more productive according to one study).

Take your PC games to the next level of reality and immersion. Most modern games look great on three screens, and only AMD Radeon graphics offer you the ability to play across five screens for an eye-popping gaming experience. Other combinations and configurations with up to six screens work too.1 Create your dream display.

Up to 12 Compute Cores

AMP 2400 Ready Program

Choosing motherboards and memory products supporting AMP technology offers consumers a trouble-free overclocking experience to boost performance on the latest AMD A-10 series APU.

What is HSA exactly?

Your APU with HSA = A Team of Specialists

You can think of HSA as a team with different players lending their unique talents to form one powerful unit. The CPU leads the system through everyday tasks. The GPU can zoom its way through tasks that are particularly data-intensive. Other components work together with the CPU and GPU in various, specialized processing tasks. With each member of the team performing a task that is especially suited to it.

  • Designed to give you an enormous boost in performance
  • Up to 12 compute cores: 4 CPU and 8 GPU

This processor runs great! I put this on a "Gigabyte AMD FM2+/FM2 AMP-UP Audio OP-AMP USB DAP-UP UEFI DualBIOS ATX Motherboard GA-G1.Sniper A88X" and installed Windows 8.1 on a Corsair SSD and the system runs like greased lightning. Only hiccup was that Windows 8.1 couldn't find a driver for this processor/motherboard combination, and the enclosed driver disk for the motherboard also did not have a compatible driver. I resolved this on AMD's website - they had a beta driver for this new processor that Win 8.1 liked.

I got this AMD a10-7700k as part of a cheap entry level gaming build. After doing my research, looking at reviews and overviews, watching the keynote from amd at CES I was sold on this processor. I'm very excited to see what the HSA (Heterogeneous System Architecture) has in store in terms of performance and efficiency gains along with their Mantle software. It took me a while to set up the dual graphics mode on my gigabyte ga-f2a88xm-d3h motherboard with my gigabyte r7 250 OC 1gb gddr5 128bit graphics card and 8gb of silicon power 2133 ram. I haven't been able to do a thorough test yet, but assassins creed 1 is able to play at almost max settings at 1680x1050 resolutions at 60fps without the dual graphics mode. The processor itself over clocks well with the stock cooler at a max of 4.1ghz. Overall I'm very satisfied with what I got and how it performs. I will update upon Mantle release.

I bought a Compaq Pesario in 2010 for about $400 which came with a AMD Athlon II 170u CPU with 2GB of DDR2 memory (I did upgrade it to 4GB), which was on the rather slow side. I purchased a Samsung 840 EVO 120GB SSD about a month ago which seemed to help this computer setup boot and load programs quicker, however I was still getting lag in certain programs and videos on the internet were choppy. I decided it was time to replace the CPU, and realized during the research that everything about the computer was quite outdated. I did some research and realized that I would need to get a new motherboard, new ram, a new CPU and possibly a GPU. I decided to go with this AMD A10-7700K APU which is an CPU/GPU combo, since I didn't want to really buy a GPU as I'm not really into gaming, I just wanted something I could use on the internet and use my current programs without any lag.

I purchased the following items for my upgrade.
AMD A10-7700K w/Radeon R7 APU ($115.66 at TigerDirect)
ASUS A58M-K Micro ATX Motherboard FM2+Socket ($56.88 at TigerDirect)
Crucial 8GB DDR3 1600(PC3-12800)Ballistix Tactical ($77.09 at TigerDirect)
Samsung 840 EVO-Series 120GB SSD ($87.69 at Amazon)
Silverstone Tek 3.5-Inch to 2 X 2.5-Inch Hard Drive HDD SSD Bay Converter ($7.99 at Amazon)
OKGear 18 inch UV Blue Premium SATA III Round Cable 6GB/s Straight to Straight w/latch, UV Blue ($5.10 at Amazon)
Logisys Corp. 480W 240-Pin Black Beauty ATX 20+4 Power Supply PS480D-BK ($21.88 at Amazon)
Total Upgrade Cost $372.29

I re-used the CD/DVD drive, the 500GB HDD, the desktop case from the previous computer setup. I'm currently running Windows 7 Home Premium.

This is fine for an HTPC set up or a child's computer. It can stream Hulu on a 37 inch TV while running a game called Wild Star on a 32 inch 720P TV at moderate graphics rates. I should have waited for the 7800 or purchased the 7850 instead. This purchase was more a curiosity project than anything. The HTPC is a bedroom streamer and wireless internet surfer. The set up is:

I am unsure if I will pair a R7 250 graphic card with it or just buy next year's top of the line APU that fits on this FM2+ board, but I will buy AMDs integrated ARM and x86 APU when it finally drops.

This HTPC is directly connected to an Onkyo receiver with BIC of America bookshelf speakers in a surround sound set up.

It looks pretty, sounds pretty, but isn't a screaming fast PC.
