Handles any basic task perfectly (web browsing, non-interactive media, etc).

If you pair this with a nice graphics card, you could build a very cheap gaming pc easy!

This processor is much under rated and under valued...... that will save you money.

this cpu is incredible for the price. It has great speed even though it only has 2 cores. I can play battlefield 3 on low settings pretty well with integrated graphics. i would absolutely recomend it for any build. If you pair this with a nice graphics card, you could build a very cheap gaming pc easy!

I used this in a mini-itx HTPC build. I'm quite satisfied with the results. I managed to build a computer for little more than $200 because of the price point. I would recommend this if all you want out of a graphics card is hd video playback.

That being said, I've also been able to run DotA 2 on low-medium settings without problems. I haven't used it extensively for gaming, but it has been manageable when I've tried it out.

Plug and Play, easy to install, fast reliable AMD you can't go wrong.
I have a 1 gig fast graphics card [GPU] so I wanted to test the GPU in the CPU [the processor]. I logged into World of War Craft [a very graphics demanding game] without the graphics cards and noted the automatic settings for the game. I then shut down the PC, installed the card I have and went back into the game, nothing changed, same exact auto settings and same visual look of the game. If you want to play online games and don't have the jing for a card you don't need one with this CPU, now isn't that a super good deal? You bet it is.
Without AMD, Intel has the world by the,,, um,, ya those things, so give it some thought, save some cash, get a great CPU/GPU and help keep Intel from ruling the world, it is in your hands.

I used this to build a computer for a friend - a little under powered compared to a dedicated CPU but this APU concept is growing on me. Dual core has a nasty ring to it for me as I've been operating under quad cores for the last three years, but I decided to take a gamble (with someone else's money, no less) and I have to say I'm impressed.

It's quite a bit speedier than I would have imagined - I'm using it right now, in fact. I've tested a few games with it and am impressed with how well it handles the graphics. I never would have imagined since integrated GPUs have never been very favorable in terms of performance. I may be changing my tune... And having my friend upgrade to a higher end model so I can test that out later!

I'm not a mad gamer, not really a power user, but I have run this processor through a few different uses and I'm impressed.

My Box--Ubuntu 12.04. A6-6400k stock fan/heat sink. Corsair CX430 PSU. 8 Gig Kingston 1600 Mhz DDR3. Western Digital Blue 1Tb HDD. Gigabyte GA-F2A85XM-D3H AMD MoBo.

Very good graphics on board the A6, no need for a graphics card.

I use this mostly as a DAW (digital audio workstation) and so far no issues running KXStudio/Ardour/LMMS. I've ripped some DVDs using Handbrake without any issues. Played some games on Steam--no issues. Runs XBMC and VLC no problems. Plays FTL no problem (not at all a game that loads the APU). Open Arena plays smoothly even on the highest settings.
No serious lag issues. Having a few issues getting Gimp to not randomly crash, but I don't think the problem is processor related.
One item worthy of note--I have 8 gigs of RAM installed, as seen by the BIOS on start up, though when the OS is running, it sees just over 7 gigs. The best explanation I have found is about a gig of RAM is used/set aside for the GPU. No problems as far as I can detect caused by this...

Seems like a great deal for the price. Quite pleased.

I used this with a Gigabyte A88x mini-itx board for a htpc running Fedora 20, MythTV 0.27, and XBMC 13 Gotham using open source Radeon drivers for video acceleration and bitstreaming DTS-HD & TrueHD.

I have traditionally used Intel processors and sometimes added Nvidia graphics cards for smooth playback using VAAPI or VDPAU acceleration. VAAPI doesn't work great in MythTV. I wanted to play around with an AMD setup and I am glad I did. Very smooth playback and no tearing. HD Audio works perfect as well. I had a i3-2100 & i3-3225 setup before this one and this is a lot better for HTPC on Linux.

Debated deducting one star for being lower performance in general compared to Intel procs, but for my use I won't notice at all. This is superior.

So I've built a PC with this processor and it is decent, but after going through all the trouble of buying all the individual components and getting it put together, I can't help but think: wow, I spent $400, if I had spent $50 more I could have gotten a computer twice as fast--the A10 quad core with the integrated graphics. So consider that. But my system basically booted up first try, and the performance of it has got to be about 4x of my previous machine: with 8gb ram and SSD, it flies. I am running Linux Lite and it is a great alternative to windows, recognized all my hardware no problems, and the interface is very, very windows-like.
