5.0 out of 5 stars VERY fast Black Edition Dual-Core CPU for a very cheap price. Can't go wrong!!
This won't be my FULL review of this item. I've only had it for about 4 days installed in my new computer build. WILL update this after I've spent more time using it trying to get it to slow down.

This won't be my FULL review of this item. I've only had it for about 4 days installed in my new computer build. WILL update this after I've spent more time using it trying to get it to slow down.

============================================================================

First of all, this thing is FAST. I come from a AMD Athlon XP 3200+ on an eMachines. It's like night and day.

Let me just state that I'm not a PC gamer. This processor is able to handle everyday multitasking with ease. I've had an HD movie running, while having a Firefox instance open with between 5-8 tabs, listening to music on iTunes (heavy program imo), AVG doing a full system scan and I don't believe I've seen it go past 35% CPU usage.

Another thing is that it runs VERY cool. I've never seen it go past 40C. That's with all that stuff going at the same time. Idle it runs at about 24C-28C and that's with the stock heat sink. **NOTE**

As I said, for now I'm using the stock cooler which I thought would be really bad at keeping it cool enough for my liking but seems to be doing a very good job so far.

It is a Black Edition processor so it is VERY easy to OC. I'm a newbie at the whole overclocking thing but even I was able to get it to 2.9ghz from the stock 2.7 by just making the clock multiplier x14.5

According to most hardware review sites, they've been able to get a stable 3.2Ghz with ease but a more experienced builder recommended I don't go past 3.0 on the stock cooling. Even at the stock 2.7Ghz it is a speed demon for my purposes.

I am using this processor in my new build while I wait for the Phenom II processors to come down in price a bit. I do highly recommend this processor for those looking for performance/price bang for your buck.
Will try to update review in a few months to see if it's still performing like a champ!

***NOTE****

These temperatures I'm getting with the CPU OC'd to 2.9Ghz. I believe my case has a lot to do with it. Plenty of airflow which is most likely responsible for such low temperature readings. I used AMD Overdrive to read the temperatures BTW.

SYSTEM SPECS:

- ANTEC Nine Hundred Two Case
- Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4H
- AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 Kuma 2.7Ghz OC to 2.9 with stock cooler.
- G.Skill 2x2GB Pi Black DDR2 800 CAS4 RAM
- Western Digital Black Caviar 640GB SATA HDD
- Corsair 450W PSU
- Samsung 223Q SATA DVD+/-RW

Hope this helped some :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great processor!, December 22, 2009

I installed this processor several months ago in a computer I built. It's been working perfectly. At first I played with the overclocking quite a bit, but now I just leave it alone. If you plan to overclock, be sure to use Arctic Silver as your thermal compound to keep it extra cool. I hope to try a AMD HDZ940XCGIBOX Black Edition Quad Core really soon since I've been so pleased with this AMD processor.

I'm glad in the end I went with this processor. Overclocks easily to 3ghz with stock heatsink an no heat problems. You can get 3ghz by setting the multiplier to 15.

I was very happy with the after sale service. Most notably the someone from the company actually called me on the phone when I had problems and asked to be called. I would definately do business with them again in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Athlon 64 X2 7750 Black Edition, April 12, 2010

The performance is just great, super fast, cold runner, low noise... excellent performance.

Processing 3ds Max 2010 renders gives this guy something to work, if you're into 3D Design and have no patience to see the final render, this is not your option. If you are patient like me, it works just fine. If you're still into this little fast processor (which you should be) I would recomend have 2 PC's one for medeling and the other for renders.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very decent price/performance lower cost CPU, October 25, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: AMD AD775ZWCGHBOX Athlon 64 X2 7750 Black Edition 2.7GHz SKT AM2+ 3MB FSB1000 95W Processor - Retail (Personal Computers)
I've been using the Athlon x2 7750 BE in my main home system for a few months now with absolutely no complaints. At stock speeds, it's roughly equivalent(a little faster) to my older Athlon 5200+.

The CPU is built off of the K10 core - like the AMD Phenom. This means you've got the added benefits of the newer micro-architecture and smaller production process. Also, because the K10 architecture was made with higher clock speeds in mind, there's a lot of overclocking potential in this chip. I'm personally running mine at 3.2 Ghz at stock voltage - though I have a feeling that there's a lot more speed to squeeze out (I work on computers all day - so sometimes it's the last thing on my mind to tweak multipliers, FSB speeds and voltages). The CPU runs very cool - even at the current overclock. It's currently averaging about 35 degrees C.

The 7750BE is essentially a quad-core part with 2 cores disabled. There are some people out there claiming that you can utilize certain AMD 7xx chipset motherboards to "unlock" these other two cores using the Advanced Clock Calibration feature - I've not had any luck on this front, but I haven't put much effort into it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Did I say fast?, August 21, 2009
This review is from: AMD AD775ZWCGHBOX Athlon 64 X2 7750 Black Edition 2.7GHz SKT AM2+ 3MB FSB1000 95W Processor - Retail (Personal Computers)
I'm very happy with this processor. Overclocking fails above 3.4, but I usually run it at 3.0 for a little speed boost. I see no reason to increase the overclocking anymore than that until I can feel the difference. The temp stays consistent at 42 degrees Celsius when overclocked to 3.0. If you can get this for a very competitive price, I'd say go for it if it meets your needs. On the other hand, with quad cores dropping in price, it might be worth exploring those to see if you can get something similarly priced.

My other system has an amd dual core @ 1.7 ghz, but with the new system I built using this processor running Windows 7, Google Chrome 4 dev, and 4 gb of memory, it's night and day as far as speed is concerned.

Do yourself a favor and pick up some Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound to keep the processor running cooler.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great performer, July 27, 2009
This review is from: AMD AD775ZWCGHBOX Athlon 64 X2 7750 Black Edition 2.7GHz SKT AM2+ 3MB FSB1000 95W Processor - Retail (Personal Computers)
This is hands down the best processor for the money although I only paid 58 bucks for it. Runs everything fast from multimedia to gaming. It easily overclocked to 3.2GHz stable. Anyone who says this processor is garbage is out of their mind and doesn't know what they are talking about. This chip can also run 1066 MHz ram but only at stock speed. As always a good motherboard will yield good results if you are into OC'ing and tweaking. Amazon needs to fix the FSB1000 on this post since the processor is actually FSB1800. Again, great processor for the price.

Installed with no problems, because I had a old nforce board and a amd cpu already in the computer and replaced them with the updated parts the computer just booted right up into windows, updated some drivers and I was done.
