I ordered this as an upgrade from my old PC. Got it earlier than I was told. Packaging was fine. Part works great. Wanted a quad core, but can't afford one right now. So this little beauty was my next on the list. Very fast for regular computing, pretty good for gaming. All in all, a solid upgrade from what I had in my old system that crashed after 5 years. If you need power for browsing, and computing, this will work great for you. If you plan on doing a lot of serious gaming, it can handle a little. Go for a quad if you're a gaming freak.

I previously had the Athlon II X2 260, which ran great and was easy to overclock. So I figured for my next build I'd opt for the 270. I wanted the Phenom II 965, but I was on a strict budget. Anywho, This CPU works great. I'm a gamer and I can honestly say, I have not had any issues running the latest games. I play Battlefield 3 (Ultra Settings), Borderlands 2, Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, Test Drive Unlimited 2 all at high to ultra settings.

As far as raw performance, I can encode a 90 min divx movie to DVD format using nero (cpu intensive) in roughly 15 to 20 mins. To give an example, older Athlon X2's (939, AM2) take around an hour. I also tend to encode a LOT of mp3s to keep everything uniform at the same bit rate. It chews through them like nothing. Encoded around 300 mp3s using dbPowerAmp in 25 mins. That's impressive.

The cooler it comes with is questionable. It's very small. A lot smaller than I expected. It does the job, but I would recommend investing in a aftermarket cooler such as the Cooler Master Hyper 212. Especially if you plan to overclock. If you're looking for a CPU that has hidden cores to unlock, this is not one of them.

It's a great budget CPU. If you're looking for something high end, I would look toward the FX or Phenom II series. But If you're on a tight budget and need something that will not only get the job done, but will have great results...this is the CPU for you.

System Specs: Athlon II X2 270, Foxconn A88GA AM3 Mobo, 8GB Crucial Ballistix 1600 Ram, 1x2TB HD, 1x640GB HD, 4850 GPU, Azza Spartan Case, Rosewill 400 Watt Power Supply

It's a great processor for it's price. Dual Core 3.4Ghz is a very respectable speed and is capable of running your system smoothly and quickly. Just don't expect too much from it. It'll run just about anything you want it to, and even run multiple applications at once, Perfect for a low end gaming system, or to run all the crap applications you don't want to bog down your gaming rig with. Runs great on Windows 7 and 8. Also runs great on Linux Mint and other less graphically intensive distros. Ubuntu is when it starts to lose power. In short, although the price for this CPU is low and its a few years old it'll get the job done and take on anything else you've got to throw at it.

Pros:
Great price
3.4ghz Dual core.
Reliable and smooth processing
Low power, cool and quiet
Great for HTPC's and low - medium gaming rigs.
Works flawlessly with Windows 7 and 8

Cons:
Not great for High end gaming (But can handle a little.)
A little choppy on certain distros of linux.

Another solid processor from AMD. Good performance for everyday tasks, runs nice and cool. Nothing fancy, not for high end gaming, but handles all day to day tasks easily and is a good value.

It's fast and stable and cheap , great for an htpc or an fts/nas. I wouldn't reccomend this for a gaming rig but probably know that.
