I've had this processor for a couple of weeks now and it seems to work extremely well. Previously, I had the older Athlon 64 2 4800 dual core CPU which was adequate for Windows 7 but lacked the raw power for some graphics and gaming programs I have. But with the Phenom II x6 1035t I noticed right away that I can do everything now in Windows 7, and then some. I moved from an AM2+ board to a MSI 970A-G45 AM3 board and put in the cheaply available 8 GB of DDR3 memory. I noticed a clear upgrade in speed and multitasking right away. When I added the MSI supercharge mode, however, my computer took off. Seriously, I was curious as to how it would match up with other CPUs out there with Sandra rating, and it turns out that my computer runs faster than most i5s and even many i7s. All of this done for a fraction of the cost. So, yes, I recommend the AMD option as a low cost alternative to the higher priced Intel CPUs. I hope this helps. JT

I have no problem playing games on the highest settings available, and I haven't burnt the thing out yet so that is always a good thing

If all you want to do is game? then the Athlon will be a better value. if you are like me and want to game AND transcode video AND watch movies AND have the ability to do this and more at the same time if you wish? then the AMD hexacores like this are the way to go. I have played games while ripping a DVD and running multiple background tasks and it never chokes no matter what you throw at it. I switched from a Deneb quad and while the deneb is still a great chip and still running great I'd say this chip is better for those doing lots of tasks. All in all the $250 I spent for this chip and a board for it was worth every penny IMHO and I could easily see myself keeping this chip for the rest of the decade, it has THAT much headroom and turbocore means when i only have a few tasks it goes through them even faster, just a really great chip.

I have two PCs. This one with the AMD Phenon II X6 and the other has an AMD Phenom II X4. The only major difference between the two is that the six core is 2.6GHz and the quad core is 3.2GHz (Along with the price, $130 for 6 core opposed to $110 for 4 core).

Wanna hear something interesting? Both CPUs perform almost identically. Both recieved a 7.3 when Windows 7 scored it.

This means that I would probably suggest getting a quad core instead of this six core. This CPU works fine and everything, but you could probably save money by getting a pretty good AMD quad core instead.

I honestly don't suggest getting this particular six core vs. a quad core unless you really wanna brag to your friends that you have a six core. In this case, the 2.6GHz actually do make a difference :P

My pc already had an athlon 64 x2 1.6. SLOW
And i thought all Amd processors where compatible since there from the same company. They are but the motherboard has to accept it.
I know quite much how CPU's work. But I knew Notting about motherboards.
I installed the CPU, and started that sucker up I was happy is hell, but when everything started loading up it took sooooooooo damn long, I was like what the hell is going on, I checked my task manager, and seen it was only runing 1 core, hmmm. So I check online and found out I had to update my motherboard BIOS, still didn't work, then I looked up the model numher on my motherboard and looked it up on Google, mcp61pm-gm- and found out it was to much watts for my mother board and it wasent even compatible, don't be a dum ass like me and buy a processor just because its from the same company thinking its gonna work, its my first ever buying one so ya i learned my lesson. Now everday I look at that processor box wishing it was in my Pc. Cause I get sick of using this slow ass processor I'm using now. Ahhhh!!
