Processor Series
This is the name the manufacturer gives to a series of CPUs using the same technology. You will want to make sure your chosen CPU matches the type your motherboard is designed to accept.
A-Series Quad-Core A8
AMD A Series
FX-Series Quad-Core FX-4170
AMD A Series
Processor Speed
Processor speed indicates how quickly the CPU can perform calculations. Higher speeds allow for faster calculations, meaning less wait time.
3.8 GHz
3.9 GHz
3.7 GHz
3.6 GHz
Number of Cores
Many modern CPUs have multiple cores. The number of cores is the number of processors that make up the CPU. Having more cores allows the CPU to perform more calculations at once, meaning less wait time.

CPU Socket Type
The socket type is the kind of connection used to mount the CPU to the motherboard. Intel and AMD each make their own types of sockets. You will want to make sure your new CPU socket type matches that of your chosen motherboard.
AMD A8-7600 processor redefines the game for PCs by revolutionizing the accelerated desktop processor that combines the power of a multicore CPU with AMD Radeon graphics all in one energy-efficient chip. It is the first APU with H.S.A. (Hetrogenous Systems Architecture which defines how the 4 compute cores interact with the 8 graphics cores. This APU also is Mantle capable, improving it's console-like optimizations & Uses FM2+ socket
What Other Items Do Customers Buy After Viewing This Item?
This is not a review for the chip, I have not bought it yet, but for the posted information here.
From my research, correct me if I am wrong, this is being falsely advertised, it is not 12 compute cores it is 10, with 4 being CPU and 6 being GPU not 8. The core speed is 3.1 with 3.8 being turbo. Just thought the consumer should know.
Incredible performance in such a small energy efficient low cost package. I have this in a minibox m350 case with the noctua low profile cooler. I am using the pico psu 150 watt combo. My suggestion, I would suggest going with a slightly larger case and not to use the pico psu. It's neat to have something this small, but even at the 45watt TDP setting, this apu produces more heat than I like for this case. The reason I gave the apu 4 stars is because of the inadequate cooler that comes with it. I had to install the noctua low profile 120mm unit in order to keep it cool enough in this small case. It does okay with just this cooler, but I did order a small noctua fan for the case as well, just to help me sleep at night and keep the temps just a little lower. (It gets as hot as 65 degrees C under full load after 30 mins of gameplay or so, this is with only the noctua cooler and no case fan. It is still pretty quiet. Word of warning, make sure you give the thermal paste plenty of break in time before you start throwing demanding games at it. Also, if you use insist on using this case, make sure you use the noctua cooler, use the msi a88xi mainboard, and get a MICROSATA SS with a standard sata adapter, not the 2.5" ssd. The 2.5" ssd does not fit in this case if you use a cpu cooler....unless you modify it slightly like I did. I think it will be cheaper and you will be overall more pleased using a slightly larger case with a more standard psu, maybe like the Antec Vesa case...although 90 watt psu is about 10 watts too low.
Anyway, back to the apu. With 8Gb AMD R9 2133mhz ddr3, the apu running at 45 watts TDP (maxes around 90 watts under full load), the msi A88ix mainbaord, and an ssd 6gb/s drive, this PC gets a Windows 7 64 bit experience rating of 6.8 overall.Read more ›

While most people flock to the more expensive A10, they forget that the sucker puts off a TON of heat and requires a big bulky aftermarket cooler that further drives up the price. According to "passmark" benchmarks, this performs just as well as older A10s for the same price, but uses less power and creates less heat, no need for anything except the compact included cooler. For any build under $350, you can't beat this. Make sure you pair it up with at least 8 gbs of ram, its gpu needs to share memory with the cpu.

We don't do heavy stuff except we require better than average igp for graphics. We had a phenom ii 965be with Radeon hd 5670 which works fine except that it's pulling almost 300w from the wall under heavy load.
This new chip only take 100w, which can cut our electric bills a lot. I can also confirmed that this chip is as fast as our older system. Great product from amd
