Amazing Product, October 6, 2009
This review is from: AMERICAN CREW by American Crew: FIBER PLIABLE MOLDING CREME 3 OZ (Misc.)
This product is just perfect for me. Gel didn't really support my hair or give me the spiky look because it was "weak" and never held my hair high. This product can give you the perfect spiky or wavy look, and give your hair a fuller look as well. As someone with thick hair, the "wet-look" never really suited me. I like my wavy spikes, and I find that this stuff works best, particularly because it leaves your hair standing up but looking dry, not frizzy.
To use it, (always after a shower), I dry my hair with a towel first, then with a blow-dryer (on hot setting). I rub a SMALL amount between palms and scrounge it through the hair, making sure to apply it to the roots. Always use small amounts. I find that using too much weighs down hair in the long run. You add more only when you need it, after the base is set. Then switch your blow-dryer to cool (this locks the product in place) and run your fingers through and style while drying. You wanna make sure you blow-dry the roots in the direction you want them to stay. You can also add small amounts to random sections if you like, to look more casual.
Keep in mind that this stuff is intended for moderately short hair. When I let my hair grow past 2-3inches I start using the Forming Cream, also by American Crew. They are similar: the Forming Cream gives hair a softer look and feel but the hold isn't quite as strong.
One last thing: I've noticed that different shampoos/conditioners used directly before using this product DO have an affect on how your hair turns out after styling. Try experimenting with different products until you find one that looks best for your hair style. The one that works best for me is Axe 2:1 shampoo/conditioner and the Axe (Lure) Conditioner.
Never be afraid to experiment!!

used everything else and this finally works., March 3, 2008

I absolutely love this product I have been using it for over two years now. I have really thin hair and I like to spike it. I keep my hair less than two inches and it works great. It lasts all day and washes out easily. It also gives my hair a fuller look because my hair looks dry after applying it. I would not recommend it for people who want the wet look. but for me it works great. It is worth the money being that I probably would spend over 25 dollars a month trying other products that i was just disappointed in. one jar usually lasts me over three months.

I'm a GIRL and I love it, March 27, 2011
This review is from: AMERICAN CREW by American Crew: FIBER PLIABLE MOLDING CREME 3 OZ (Misc.)
I've been using Fiber for years. I have long hair, to my shoulders, and sometimes longer.
I have also used it with very short hair. When my hair is short it's the same as all the guys' postings here.
But this product is also great for women (and men) with long hair. I apply a little bit to my hair after every shower. It helps keep the frizz under control better than any frizz product I've ever used. If I don't shower the next day, a little bit of water helps to reset it and it's just as good. I take a small amount and rub it in my hands to make it soft (or heat it with a hair dryer) and spread it evenly through my hair. Then comb it through to make sure it's even and there are not little clumps anywhere. No need to worry about focusing on the roots since it's just for frizz control. Finish with a blow dry. This keeps my hair frizz free almost all day! If I'll be curling my hair, I apply more to the roots and then a small amount to the rest of my hair. This keeps the curls smooth, they last ALL DAY, have a little lift at the roots and more bounce. I usually use a little root booster (gel spray) with curls too. If I'll be straightening my hair, I apply it for frizz control and it keeps my hair looking smooth and helps it stay straight (rather than getting wavy as the day goes on).
Note that even with long hair, a little bit goes a long way. I use about a pea sized amount, like a large pea. Maybe a tiny bit more at the tips if they're still a little frizzy. If you use too much it makes your hair thick, heavy and greasy looking. A 3 oz tub lasts me 6-9 months.
I have very difficult hair, so this product is nothing less than a miracle for me. My hair is thick (the strands are thick, that is, I don't really have a lot of hair). It tends to be dry and frizzy, and being on my third pregnancy it's even worse. It doesn't help that I dye it regularly and heat style it often. Even at it's healthiest in my younger years it's been difficult to style, and this is the only thing that holds a style. And it holds it very well. In conjunction with good shampoo and conditioner it makes my hair look good and healthy. (I use Herbal Essence shampoo and conditioner - nothing fancy, but it's been the best for me. And I use Garnier Fructis leave-in conditioner.)
