From Library Journal
Though once solely the realm of good ol' boys, rodeos, like country music and cowboy boots, have gone mainstream. This 1985 volume offers the first historical account of the rodeo as organized entertainment. Fredriksson traces the evolution of the rodeo from cowboys' pastime to Buffalo Bill Cody's mass crowd pleaser to today's million-dollar industry. This "entertaining and informative work" ( LJ 1/85) might find a wide audience in 1993.
