I don't normally write reviews on any items that I purchase. BUT this DVD Player is great! We had one of the top of the line DVD Players and we continually had problems with it, it wouldn't play the DVD's one minute and the next minute they would load up just fine. It was a pain in the (behind)! This "cheapy" DVD player is wonderful and easy to use. The greatest thing is , it actually plays everything that the description claims. On my "expensive" DVD Player I was unable to play burned DVD's ahhh but this I tested for all types and it came out on top! Loved this so much I went out and purchased the surround sound system that goes with it! This is a can't miss for 40.00 bucks!

This DVD was bought for a spare bedroom based on the review and of course the price...this is a no lose situation-you are getting top quality here. Very easy to set up and although I had never heard of the brand, I gave it a shot-thanks for posting the review-great quality, high review and the price (and it comes from Circuit City) you cannot let this one go!!

IT seemed like a great deal to get a DVD player for under $40 but what you get is what you pay for. On multiple occasions I have put a DVD into the player and gotten the No Disc response. This would not be the best player for most.

Not only did they take over 2 weeks to send me the item. The DVD player I received was defective. Then they made ME pay the postage to return it. Nice huh? I strongly advise that you DO NOT order from this company.

I've bought several DVD players for myself and friends and family. I bought this one for my mother-in-law. With the region code unlocked it plays all the DVDs I have, even the european ones in PAL format -- this player will play PAL no problem and converts it on the fly to NTSC. This is a fact that wasn't obvious reading about it online. For the price it's great, and I think it looks better than my previous favorite cheap multi-format/region player: Yamakawa 218

When I ordered this DVD system, I thought, hey, cool a player for so less(...). I was a little wrong. When I tried putting in a DVD, sometimes, it would say,"NO DISK". I was outraged. When it did work, there would be this blinding red light throughout the movie. This DVD player didn't even read "Star Wars"!!!! I hate this thing. It's junk!(...)

We bought this player two days ago at Circuit City and got their $10 2 year warranty. We figure this should be the lifetime of a $27.00 player.

Pros
1. Low, low price
2. Excellent picture via RCA connectors (Apex 21in TV)
3. Slim and light
4. Can do slide shows off CDs with JPGs

Cons
1. Remote control is crowded
2. No S-video (...)

I thought of cancelling my order as I didnt find mention of the digital optical output. However, there was a pleasant surprise..
The remote sucks... Hence lost a star.
The system was still working when I last checked.
If you don't want to spend more than 40 bucks for a no frills DVD player, this is the one..

Player yields good quality playback of everything I've thrown at it. DVD-R, DVD+R and DVD+RW, even VCD. It was able to play cheap disks that Cyberhome unit couldn't.
It doesn't have progressive scan outputs, but since my TV doesn't have the inputs, I won't loose any sleep over it.

I have only had this thing for a week, so I cannot write about its longevity. So far the thing is working flawlessly. The PAL->NTSC conversion is excellent, something that my $700 Pioneer Elite player doesn't seem to be able to do.

The reasons I downgraded this player to 4 stars:

- Only COMPOSITE video out (no S-video or component). The picture quality is still decent, though a bit washed out looking, even after making adjustments.

- Bright red light stays on when disc is inside player and player is turned off. This is an annoyance if you have your player in a bedroom system. (The red light is BRIGHT!)

- Seems to have some relatively minor lip-sync issues.

For the money, this is a great little player.
